I'm not worried whatsoever, but if any other Spurs fans are worried then that represents the failures of the club in the past, not a weak mentality or stupidity IMO.

It's about time people got over them then.

The players and management we have now don't represent the moments that represents the past failures so why can't people move on?

Superstition, I guess? Newcastle probably didn't help.

I agree, it's important to remember how this team has proven multiple times that they've learnt from that game. I'm really not worried at all, for me the only question is whether we finish 3rd or 4th.

We've got the same manager and a number of the same players who succumbed to an unexpected failure at the end of 2015/16 where we let Arsenal overtake us in the final game. We're definitely in a much better state than we were pre-Poch, but it's not like this regime hasn't delivered the odd sickener to us like Spurs teams of old have done.

That said, I'm totally confident we're home and hosed above the scum for this season.

The unexpected failure of reaching the Champions League for the first time since 2010.

Read that out loud for a minute.

Yeah, I know that you don't do local rivalries, Shady*, but plenty of us Spurs fans do and if you cast your mind back there were lots of people who were simultaneously happy with the big picture of that season and also absolutely gutted with how it ended with Arsenal above us.

*albeit bizarrely you do seem to have time to get worked up by potential successes for Liverpool that have no direct impact upon Spurs' fortunes :wtf:

Try and Spock-logic it away by saying that you're above any such petty concerns as our performance vs our historical rivals and any fans who care about that rivalry, but that was a sickener in the eyes of many, and it was delivered by this regime, so we can't claim that just because we have these players and this manager that we're no longer capable from snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when the gods are feeling unkind.

We're more likely to build on our +8 GD lead over Arsenal than lose it substantially

Why does that one particular match carry more weight over the rest of the 9 months where we worked hard to get ourselves into that position in the first place? Why does that Newcastle match wipe out multiple other moments where we showed that this team had the mentality and ability to turn up and deliver 'non spursy' performances and results?

We still qualified for CL football, did finishing below Arsenal affect us as a football club in the long run? No it didn't...so the lasting memory of every Spurs fan that season should have been qualifying for the CL for the first time since 2010 and the progression of the club not finishing below Arsenal because ultimately we achieved our goal.

I mean if you really want to argue the case that this team is apparently capable of throwing it away it was 4 (four) years ago, if you want to use that as an example be my guest but it doesn't make for a convincing argument simply because a lot has happened since then...unless you suddenly think that this current team is capable of having a meltdown of the same magnitude against Everton, do you really believe that...I don't

This is the thing for me, people just constantly cherry pick this bottling argument when it suits their own narrative, you can pick out all the alleged bottling moments you want from this Spurs team and you could make a case but I bet I can find far more moments that highlight our progress from the Spurs of old and shows that we don't really deserve to be given the same tag as previous Spurs sides.

So bringing up our past record and relating it to this current team is just silly, using a 4 year old example to try and claim that history could repeat itself is just ridiculous particularly when people don't use any rationale thinking in their arguments - thinking that we'll throw it away and capitulate is one thing but thinking that this shit Arsenal side are suddenly gonna go on a tear and put 4/5 past a tough Burnley side is just illogical, I mean it could happen I suppose but then again Sissoko could score hat trick of rabona's against Ajax to take us through to the CL final, the probabilities of both situations playing out are extremely low and aren't worth getting your nickers in twist over.

We are the only fan base that act like complete cowards over things like this.

2015/2016 was burnout after title charge that faltered. no way the boys are gonna let arsenal have 4th by laying down and giving up 4-5 goals. i'm not cocky b/c it's not mathematically impossible. but i'm confident they have this sorted.

We don’t need to drop to their level and have a day dedicated to it

I agree. When speaking to an Arsenal fan just refer to it as the day when you realised that you were inferior to Tottenham and realised that you could not finish above them.

Just state it in it's most basic of terms instead of creating such a special term for it. It is as if it is a trophy to them, like FA Cup final day.

Or Champions League final day which for the record they are light years away from too..........

Half Time:

Burnley 0 - 3 Arsenal
Spurs 0 - 1 Everton

At Turf Moore: A dodgy pen, a scrambled in-off-the-arse job, & one in the 8th minute of injury time after Burnley's captain took time to be stretchered off
At WHL: Dodgy pen & worldie performance from their keeper. Toby off with a twisted knee. Everyone else looking knackered.

Come on you Spurs.
