Clearly the next two games are key if we want to stay in touch at the top. Somehow we need to grab at least four points for two reasons. One is we know that in recent seasons that any team who gets away from the others early in the season are pretty much impossible to catch. But more importantly we have to show, not least to ourselves, that we can take on others in the top five and beat them

Watched the Arsenal highlights on sky 30 mins so gives a better idea of the game than MOTD. How fortunate were they...that defence is all over the place. Aubameyang hit a post from six yards Miki goal was fortunate and that was about it. That Adama Traore would be some player if he had a brain. If we can get ahead we will stitch them up on the break...they all pile forward and hope for the best.

As said if we are within 6/7 pts come new year I think we’d have a shout. With new stadium possible, loaded home fixtures, usual end of season rally, possible January signings. Also CL will play a factor if city or Liverpool get to semis that could effect a drop off in league form.

Unlikely as City will probably walk it. But I’d definitely fancy us for 2nd if we are in and around it come new year.

Considering our injuries and our best players playing under-par it's amazing how well we're doing in the league. The title will probably be a long shot but when everyone is fit and back in stride coupled with the new stadium + the fact that we generally play better during the second half of the season. My biggest worry is that City themselves only seem to be in second gear and I still wouldn't bet against them running away with the title yet again.

I definitely believe we'll be in the mix for 2-3 spot though.

I thought start of season, Liverpool will run away from us given the improvements they have made. I mean they could still finish above us after number of years. But what gives me hope is , this season Liverpool are not scoring goals. They have scored 23, just 3 more than us. Having said, defensively they have conceded just 5 (we conceded 10). But then, they have not suffered any injuries like us.

We are hanging in mix somehow so if we can get atleast 1 win in next 2 games, thats good enough for a top4 push. If we want to be 2nd or even have hopes of 1st we got to beat both Chelsea & Arsenal.

Arsenal are getting 3 tough games now - Bournemouth (A), Spurs (H), United (A). I won't be surprised if they drop points in all 3 games.

Very crucial games coming ahead.

Kane could really have used time away from international duty to boost our league chances.

Piss me off when i read that Mendy, Martial, Lacazette etch all withdrawn from national duty due to minor injuries. You know they will all be fit and fresh in 2 weeks, while Kane being worked like a horse...

if he is tired that doesn't count as being injured. The 1 thing Poch will never do is stop players playing for their countries, he was so proud to put the Argentina jersey on, and knows playing for your country is any players dream no matter what cap number it is.

if Mendy, Martial, and Lacazette are suffering knocks then they are no use to their country, and I know with Lacazette they said on SSN that the French sent him back

Love the optimism in here but cant see us in any top 4 hunt without at least 4 pts from chelsea and goon. We've already lost at home against our current top 4 rivals, would expect similar outcomes away from home in the reverse fixtures.

Therefore its imperative we take points in the next 2 if we're to be top 4 again. This is without considering the fact that the squad is already stretched this way and that and the players are nowhere near the level of fatigue they'll be feeling after xmas. Signings are not guaranteed, nor is the stadium uncertainty.

If we got top 4 this year all things considered I'd be genuinely shocked

I'd love at least 1 win obviously, but we only actually have to draw both of those games now 'for a top4 push'

We draw against Chelsea, and Arsenal win against Bournemouth, we'd be 1pt ahead of Arsenal

Then, if we draw against Arsenal, we'd still be 1pt ahead of Arsenal

Then Arsenal have a few 'tricky' games and we've got 6 or 7 'winnable' games, where hopefully we rack up the points

If we want a title-tilt however, realistically we'd need to pick up 2 wins...not sure anything else would cut the mustard, come the end of the season

See my post above (probably should have multi-quoted :cautious:)

If we beat both, top 4 is surely ours if we don't have a meltdown later in the year.

Moura wasn't called for the national team? Bummer... not.

Tbh I think he only got called up last time cause someone dropped out and they were training at Hotspur way. And obviously he’d shown some form, but you know what I mean it was convenient.
