I'm holding on to the fact that the closer we get to the end of the season, the more chance Chelsea and Arsenal are likely to "prioritise" the Europa League and hopefully take one eye off the Premier League. Obviously I'm hopeful we'll still be in the Champions League, but I think our main concern will always be finishing top 4. Arsenal and Chelsea will perhaps deem winning the EL to be an easier route to CL football next season.

It's intriguing, and there are 1000 permutations. I hope it doesn't go down to the final game, that will be nauseating.

4th will not be good enough imo. Has to be a push to stay 3rd also relying on the likes of Liverpool 'doing us a favour' like yesterday!

I don't understand that mentality, if you're asking the question. Even allowing for the fact that you've said that your position is contingent on us qualifying for the top 4, what if Chelsea or Arsenal finished in 3rd whilst we finished in 4th? I struggle to comprehend the thinking of a Spurs fan who would care more about Liverpool winning the league than whether Spurs manage to finish above our local rivals in the table. I just don't get that.

Agreed !! Well said.

You don't understand it because you aren't surrounded by Liverpool fans. A decade ago, I'd have never dreamt that I could hate a team more than I hated Arsenal and then Chelsea. But after spending 10 years out of London and having to work, and socialise, with a load of Scouse twats*, and hardly any Arsenal and Chelsea fans, my hatred of Liverpool has skyrocketed.

*Worth noting that most of these Scouse twats are perfectly decent blokes until the topic of football comes up.

Yeah, I think people just need to understand that some fans will have various experiences with different fan bases, I certainly understand the hate towards Liverpool.

If only we had gotten the 3 points in our last games against united and Liverpool. We were the better side in both games and but for better finishing , we would have 6 points more now and would have avoided all this aggro about who we prefer winning the title this season.:)

For the record, I hate Arsenal for where they are and I hate Chelsea for what they are, I don't particularly hate Arsenal fans because they are generally pretty inoffensive and I hate Chelsea fans because they really are the scum of the earth. Liverpool fans I just think oh for fuck sake give it a rest and it is just so funny when it all goes tits up for them. All I want is the best for us so no I don't want to lose to any team just because it might damage another team, it's US first then I will take time out to enjoy others misfortune.

Because of the possibility that Arsenal/Chelsea might finish 3rd, which wouldn't have any bearing on CL football but would taint the season somewhat.
oh right, I think I could live with that. I suppose we need to get Man Ure out of the CL tomorrow before we can rule out the 'nightmare scenario' situation re CL/EL winners too

I get all this hatred for other teams whether that be arse, chavs, scouse etc etc
Ultimately though we are Tottenham SUPPORTERS and so imho we should always be supporting Tottenham regardless of what our result means to other teams. So on that note I hope we smash city twice this week for our benefit

I couldn't give a fuck if we finish beneath either (although I don't think we will). This season has all been about getting through it and setting up the first one proper in the new stadium. No World Cup to mess with players' fitness, a proper pre-season, and some signings.

Some would be hating on the fact Liverpool are doing a better job on closing the deal than we did, we really did squander our chance.
