We're going to finish 8, but somehow will manage to win the CL and everything will be alright.

Chelsea won't get in the top 6

Wow. Is this seriously what you think? Have you seen their midfield? Their signings in the window? If they keep Hazard, they'll be battling City and Pool for the title. Never mind missing out on top four......

They're missing one crucial ingredient, a quality striker.

Giroud is a donkey.
Morata is crap.
Batshit isn't good enough.

The pressure is on Hazard for the goals, Willian doesn't score often, neither does Jorginho or Kovacic.

I think we'll be 2nd. City will win it. Liverpool will have a purple patch but fall off in the final third of the season and we'll over take them. United and Chelsea will implode and both sack their managers. Arsenal will finaly get to find out how much fun the manager roulette game is that everyone else has been playing whilst they've been moaning about Wenger. Those 3 will scrap for 4th.

Quite bizarrely, seen one of the outlets say we are "under pressure to do well", because we haven't signed anyone.

Eh?
Don Goodman by any chance? ... Yeah ... :ROFLMAO:

Think we'll have to be lucky with injuries to crack top four. Looking forward to the season begining though.

I wish Giroud was our backup striker. For a donkey, he sure has a great goal ratio.

We are, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we slip up. It’s going to be a tough game - Rafa’s teams always are. And if we’re not at our best, we may suffer.

Yeah it's a tricky enough fixture up there.

Look, I wouldn't be surprised if we do start a little slowly, but signing a player today wouldn't of changed that , no matter how much of a lift it gives temporarily.

If you expect players to be fatigued and the team disjointed, one signing today wouldnt really affect that.

It's hard to say now. If we can make our new stadium like how WHL was in our final season there we have every chance of making the top 4. We're still a good team who can pick up a lot of points away from home at least against the teams outside of the top 6. It may be harder as a few of those teams have seemingly strengthened well too but unlike them we at least know where our level it and it's fairly high still.

It's all a bit 'black box' really isn't it. Could go any which way.

- City are almost as unchanged as we are, but with Mahrez thrown in. Will depend on how consistent they are as to how they do.
- Chelsea have lost Courtois, and Kepa could turn out to be either van der Saar, or Taibi. Sarri has yet to win a trophy as manager, and seems more of a nutter than Conte was, so it could all go AVB for them yet. Who knows.
- Liverpool have bought a load of players who might click really well, or they might struggle to get along. They relied heavily on Salah last season, so he has a job on to do the same again. They've replaced Karius, which is a good call, but Allison was kept on the bench by Sczezny at Roma, so who knows how that'll turn out?
- Man Utd still have issues with defence and attack, as Mourinho has alienated most of the options in either area. He's obviously trying to get the excuses in early though.
- Arsenal? Who knows. They're not the same standard of team they used to be, and Emery is likely to find the strength of the PL a culture shock.

We have had no real right, on paper, to have finished 3rd, 2nd, 3rd in recent years, so I'm intrigued to see how effective it is to not actually disturb the squad dynamic with new faces.

It's all about the first few matches for me. If we can weather it a bit until the big boys get back and up to full fitness levels, we should stick around.

It's going to take Chelsea months to start playing Sarri-ball and it really wouldn't surprise me if one or two of their big players baulk at having to put their egos to one side to fit into the system. It's probably unfair to judge a team based on a game against City, but they were all over the shop in the Community Shield.

Manchester United are in disarray and the one thing that allowed them to sporn so many 1-0 results last season (the individual brilliance of De Gea) has been called into serious question by the Spanish media since the World Cup.

Arsenal could well have appointed AVB mk.II and if those players lost respect for Wenger after all he achieved there then what hope for Emery?

As is often the case, Liverpool have spent loads of money. Will it go better than when they've spent loads of money in the past? Fabinho could go the way of Bakayoko, Keita could get sent off every other week like he did last season. Whatever happens they still won't be anywhere near City.

1. City
2. Liverpool
3. Spurs
4. United or Chelsea

Think we will finish 5th or 6th and I think the club are happy with that.

I really hope not. If they're happy with 5th or 6th then before you know it, it will be 9th or 10th. Some teams outside the top 6 are showing serious ambition. If we don't then we could even fall behind the likes of Everton and West Ham if we aren't careful.

Chelsea are changing their entire pattern of play from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3, even their manager has said they need at least 3 months to adjust. Madrid still chasing Hazard and they’ve been trying to flog their main striker. Doesn’t look like a stable camp to me.

In 2016 Conte switched them to a 3-4-3 and they didn't take much time at all to adjust, in fact they won the league with a pretty high number of points. A good coach can implement a new system pretty quickly and they have really good players at their disposal, perfect for the system they're trying to switch to. The only exception I would say is Alonso at left back - he's a better fit as a left wing back, but in most other positions they have quality players for the system they're trying to play.

I don't know how good Sarri will be but he's done an impressive job with his previous clubs and if he does anything similar with Chelsea, with the players they have, they'll be near the top of the table at the end of the day.

Haha so everything is going to go wrong for our rivals but will be perfect for us. You're post is seriously wishful thinking after we've had a bad transfer window in my opinion.

Well, my post is partly an equal and opposite reaction to all those people who seem to think everything will go swimmingly for our rivals and badly for us. But I'm pretty confident I know the level of performance we can expect from our squad. Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool on the other hand have a fair amount of change to implement while Mourinho is busy doing his now customary third season routine.

Onions but I disagree. Very different environment at that club as well with Roman seemingly less committed and realising he isn’t top dog in the league anymore. If it clicks immediately then yes it could work but if not they aren’t reknowned for their patience, can see it getting ugly quite quickly.

We're fucked imo. New stadium to get used to, injuries a-plenty in the one area of the pitch where we really should have strengthened, manager and players potentially upset at a lack of signings, fans in a similar boat, every other team in the league strengthening, tired players just returning from holidays after a gruelling world cup and season before that. We're easily the worst-off of the big 6 and it wouldn't surprise me to see us dropping points all over the shop, especially once CL and cup games kick in. I think those thinking we'll finish 2nd are way too optimistic
