Assuming that finishing 5th and winning the CL still eliminates the 4th place team from the CL, my absolute hope is that we win the CL, finish 5th and Arsenal finish 4th. The only issue is I don’t think I could live through it waiting for it to happen. But fuck me that would be an astonishing scenario.

That aside, looking at the various remaining fixtures of the teams involved, I still have faith we’ll finish 4th.
Wakey Wakey mate we don't do things like that.
As for the scum, they seem to turn up for the big games this season, with no top 6 sides to play, they will fuck it up on their own.

Their run-in:

Newcastle
Everton
Watford
Crystal Palace
Leicester
Brighton
Burnley

I dunno, mate.
Worst thing is that those teams have little / nothing to fight for and are likely to have one foot on the beach (hopefully Bri & Bur are still scrapping for survival in last two weeks)

It’s going to be v tight and looking at the fixtures / kick off times for our next two games it wouldn’t surprise me if we’re in 6th when we open the new stadium

Chelsea, Arsenal, United and us will all drop unexpected points between now and the end of the season. It's the nature of each team's inconsistent form.

We still have an (admittedly slim) advantage. We will have a better picture of where we are when we get the dreaded Liverpool game out of the way. We should be looking for at least 16 points out of a possible 21 from there, and even that's being slightly pessimistic. I'm hopeful that will be enough for top 4.

Ultimately it's the team who have got themselves in to this mess, it's their job to grab themselves by the bollocks and drag us back out.
I agree but I'm finding it hard to see the team get themselves out of this slump yes we will win a couple but probably not all of our remaining home games, and certainly not getting anything at Liverpool or city.

Chelsea with their games in hand had the chance to go ahead of us into third place. So here's my question, did they bottle it?

Ignoring your relentlessly patronising tone.... Your original point was, I am pretty sure, about how resurgent Arsenal are and how we should all be worried about them.

The above picture isn't really that though. We are where we are because of us not them..... We haven't won for ages and they still are behind us and I still don't think they are that great.

I don't think we are at the moment either but having watched them play a huge number of times I am still not worried and still don't think they are a resurgent, Arsenal of old force to be feared.

Do we want those scumbags to best Rennes?

Yes, the deeper both they and Chelsea go the better. Then they can face each other in the final, have a mass brawl and both get banned for bad behaviour and general shitness. The Europa vase will be given to third place winners.

Whilst our form is shocking, we can take comfort that 5 of our last 8 are at home, are all winnable and should hopefully be in the new stadium, giving us a huge lift. 5 wins puts us on 76, which should hopefully be enough for top 4, because...

5 of Chelsea's last 8 are away, 2 of those being Utd and Liverpool, with Everton and Leicester also thrown in there.

Man Utd have 4 away games left, however they still have tough games against City, Chelsea, Wolves and Everton. They also have FA Cup to deal with.

We just need to ensure that we don't panic after a potential loss to Liverpool, as we'll likely be overtaken. Brace yourselves, this is likely to go to the last day.

The only problem (concern) with that, is getting those 5 wins from 8 games. We haven't got 1 win in our last 4 league games, and haven't won since the 10th of February. The math doesn't look great from our point of view.

I'm normally the idiot spouting optimistic bullshit & begging people to have a bit of belief & faith. However, this slump has an air of inevitability about it, and an unnerving sense of Deja Vu.

So this is where I need to own up. A month ago when we were well clear I was organising a holiday in Cornwall with a few mates. The only potential date everyone could do was the weekend of the last game of the season. I thought (stupidly) that we’d all be ok then and I could afford to miss the last game so I said yeah let’s do that weekend, it will be fine.

It’s all gone tits up since then.

Fuck it. Come down to Cornwall anyway & I'll depress you enough to finish you off completely.

3 weeks is a long break. Players will go home see their families and hopefully come back in a fresh frame of mind. Always feels like such along time ago after an international break and that’s normally 2 weeks. Trust me Southampton will be a distant memory by the time we KO at Anfield.

I honestly wouldn’t swap our position with any of the others. I really wouldn’t fancy 5 away in last 8 all at tough places.

It's not the position I'm worried about, it's our form

Do we want those scumbags to best Rennes?

No.

I'm slightly concerned that English clubs will win both European competitions.

If that happens, then 4th place in the league does not get CL next season.

It's an outside chance, but one that I want taken off the table altogether.

I really wished people would stop quoting "a 3 week break", we have a squad full of internationals, and most of them will be playing 2 important games for their countries, between 2 - 4 of them being captains also. the good thing is Liverpool players won't have that, even those being kept home will play 2 games for Liverpool, some will play 3 or 4 including internationals

The point of quoting a 3 week break is in terms of resetting mental attitude. The players have a 3 week break from Spurs playing again a chance to dust themselves down think about other things and hopefully come back mentally refreshed and ready for last 10-13 games. Right now I’d much rather this than play Liverpool next week.

Everton, Watford, Leicester, Wolves and Burnley are all away. Certainly not easy places to go and win.

This end of the season decent mid table teams are often the best opposition to play.

That said, I think realistically Arsenal will get between 8pts to 12pts from that little lot.
