In the immediate term, this win is exactly what we need for United before they play Liverpool. Their confidence is sky high at the moment, and with it being at Old Trafford, I have a sneaky feeling United will get something.

I’m the opposite. Everyone is expecting Man Utd to pick up some points. I know Liverpool don’t have a great recent record there, but when teams are expected to do something that benefits us, they usually don’t.

If it was at Anfield I wouldn't believe in United, but it's at Old Trafford and so their fans will make it an atmosphere that could put Liverpool under pressure. Saw how they were at West Ham, slow and not as free flowing as they had been. Quick start, crowd on side, maybe an early goal and Liverpool will certainly feel it. Need United to score first.

We're going to be playing Chelsea in the middle of a new manager bounce aren't we?

Sarri could be a dead man walking if they lose this and the final.

With the comments this morning about his position it could well be a new manager at the helm by the time we play them next Wednesday. The other part of this is that if they dont sack him, they now play Thursday with the pressure of a win needed, the cup final hoping not to be humilated and then we get the chance to play them on the last of 4 games in 9 days. Great chance to get a 2nd consecutive win in the league at the Bridge.

Utd can definately take something from Liverpool on Sunday

I’ll take a draw. Closing the gap to 3 points is great. Especially considering the gap was 9 points not so long ago.

People didn’t expect them to drop points at home to Leicester or st West Ham.

Agreed. With things so tight, from here on in every game looks like a potential banana skin. Half of Liverpool's 12 remaining matches are against teams in the top 10 - Man U, Watford, Everton, ourselves, Chelsea and Wolves. Admittedly most of those are at home but all of them look like they could be awkward, at least on paper. They also have to go away to 4 of the main relegation candidates as well as play a relegation threatened Burnley at home - and there is strong statistical evidence to conclude that teams fighting relegation start improving their performance at the end of the season.

If either ManC or us catch Liverpool, meaning equal or better points with same number of games played, I think Liverpool's fans will really feel the pressure and will pass that to the players on game day, especially at Anfield.

Hope for a draw or ManU win and us to take care of business this weekend. With Kane and Dele coming back, we will have the chance to play even up with anyone and I include ManC in that.

We need them to lose. The psychological effect of a defeat is much worse. Add that to the media scrutiny and pressure and it will be much more beneficial to us.

We have to beat Burnley though. Thankfully we play them in the first fixture of the weekend. If we win then pressure will be ramped up even before they kick off.

Yeah, it’s pointiess if we don’t beat Burnley and we should focus on ourselves. However, a draw is fine. A loss is obviously better but them dropping points is the most important thing for me. There’s still plenty of games left after the next round of fixtures

It's not, that extra point could make all the difference come the end of the season not to mention them losing confidence should they get beat.

It’s not what?

You telling me you’re going to annoyed if they draw and we close the gap to 3 points (assuming we beat Burnley)

A draw isn't fine, a loss is better.

And no I'm not telling you that at all, I already outlined my reasons in my previous post...:bored:

Well yeah, obviously a loss is better. As I said. Weird you don’t think a draw is fine.

Will be very happy with a draw, it puts us right in the mix.

I think there's more at stake than us losing Michael Carrick over 10 years ago.
