I'd like that too but rather it happened in our new stadium, set a new precedent in a new environment.
It would really make a strong statement for the future in the NWHL.

So you'd rather we finish below arsenal for the next two years than above them?

It gave their fans the best day of their lives

I think that's it, fan expectation vs club expectation, seems like the older fans can't let go of their memories and the reasons why they fell in love with Spurs in the first place as we are traditionally known as a cup team which is understandable I guess, like said though the reality it that CL will always take precedent over trophies which will be beneficial for us in the long term which will enable us to compete for those trophies.

Its a fine line really, but what we shouldnt do and what Poch has to learn is to not play weak sides in the latter stages of competitions. Whats the point? When you get that close thats when you go for it. You dont see Chelsea, Utd or City put the B team out when they have a great chance at a Trophey. Even Liverpool go for it, I want us cementing a place in the CL purely to keep and obtain better players but if we get close in any competion we must be going for it. Its time to win some silverware.

Apart from the Dortmund match when we were in the middle of a title race and our squad wasn't big enough when else has he play weakened teams in cup comps in latter stages?

Liverpool went for the EL last season and they finished 8th!

Liverpool were already 8th and 15 points off the top when the Europa League knock out stage started. They were already out of the FA Cup and had the League Cup final, so they had no excuse not to go all in for the EL.

Ok to be fair its not just Poch but a failing as a club I suppose, appart from the odd occasion where we do put top 4 first, Don get me wrong I eant to see us up there consistently, I understand the importance of us being in the CL regularly for the revenues it brings as well as the attraction for better players as well as keeping our current ones but I am sure that the players must as well as fans want to win silverware.

Its not about being small time and wanring to win 1 trophey a decade, I want to see us at least challenging and getting to finals regularly. I think that is as important to players as playing in the CL.

In Liverpools case they had to for EL because they were not good enough to get a top 4 place last year. I honestly think if they had gone out in the EL they still wouldnt have made top 4. I actually think they wont this year either and that is without any European football at all. I think they will miss out along with Man Utd.

Maybe there is a touch of the old romantic in me but teams are remembered for winning tropheys not finishing in the top 4 or now apparently the top 6?!

I think this team with a few more additions is capable of winning a title in the next few years but wouldnt it be amazing to win a few other tropheys along the way. Wouldnt it be nice to talk about those glory years when Spurs won their first title in 50 odd years and an FA cup as well as success in Europe!

Its about time surely.

One day.

I'm sure they'd trade that one day for sustained growth and subsequent success.
Instead they faded away.

You really think that?

So if a year ago you offered Leicester fans two different scenarios, what would they choose?

1. A season when they win the PL, immediately followed by relegation and then 10 years of struggle.

2. 10 years of finishing safely in mid table in the PL.

I think 99% would choose option 1.

Winning things is what football is all about.

So many of our fans are turning into the 'top 4 is everything' brigade that fills the soulless Emirates.

Really worries me what our fans are becoming. I will make sure my boy never ends up thinking like this. It's not what following your team should be.

And they still fucked it up, losers.

Not for a team of Wigans stature, quite a feat really
Oh, I am sure its a feat - but sad that if you are a supporter that is considered your best day of your life. A momentary interruption from an otherwise mundane existence as a Wigan supporter. Its sad that they will hold onto that memory because there is nothing else to hold onto - or look forward to.

Give me a team that creates a chance of winning every time they step on the pitch rather than a team living in the past.

Don't think that's right. You can't ever turn Wigan into the next Man Utd. Theve won the FA cup which is massive for there club. Good luck to them. You don't want him your local side on a sats saying this isn't proper football as they aren't playing league footie

The sad thing is it is now harder than ever for a small team to win things, I dont class Spurs a small team bu we dont find it easy to come by do we? If we were to win the league it would be the greatest day of my football supporting life as I have never seen it happen. Would that be sad to a Unite fan? Maybe

I'm sure supporters in 100 years time wouldn't take to it too well.

I think we are at a cross roads, new stadium on the horizon, all the spoils that should o with it. I hope we do something with it and we build a dynasty that 50 years from now our fans can be proud of but what I dont wnt it to be another Arsenal who just celebrated being in the top 4 the longest.

They won the bloody title, not the FA Cup.
They got into and are still in the Champions league.
I'd definitely happily swap an FA Cup win for a league title.
We certainly would make more use of that than Leicester who are back in the duldrums.

No one is saying they'd rather finish 4th than win cups.
They/we are saying if we finish 4th/or higher that the exposure and income generated will grow the club to a point where cup wins will occur more frequently.
Arsenal and United, in the Champions league era, have both surpassed our 8 FA Cup wins since we last won it twenty six years ago.

I was just under 10 then. A lot of our fans don't remember or weren't even born.
I'm sure a domestic cup win once every quarter of a century is great, spending the next 10 years on the scrap heap in mid table is not.
We will not keep this, or any decent squad together year on year if we finish 10th and win a cup. They will all want to leave.
It's not a case of preference anymore, we HAVE to be in the champions league year on year to maintain this.
