Trippier seems to be about as popular as Sol Campbell on this forum at the moment, but as we all know, Tottenham fans are amongst the most fickle breed in modern human history. Much of the hate is coming from those who couldn't wait for him to get back from his World Cup holiday when Aurier was getting roasted by Kennedy at St James Park.

It's not exactly the days when we were trying to decide between Keane and Defoe up front, or between Friedel and Lloris in goal. Neither option is ideal, but until January at the very least (if not longer) we're going to have to play one or the other. Either that, or we throw in Kyle Walker-Peters who's failure to earn himself more first team minutes given the poor form of these two and Poch's track record in fast tracking talented youngsters, is not a good sign.

So quick poll today - who do you want as first choice RB until we can get someone else in?

Poll will close in two days - before the PSV game.

Aurier.

Yes he's a mistake in him, and he won't contribute as much in attack as Tripps but he's a more robust and competitive defender, and that for me is the most important box to tick.

He's looked better this season so deserved more of a chance anyway. Couple that with Trippier's sub standard form and I'm mythed as to why he hasn't got more of a run.

Guess that free kick in the world cup semi has a bit to do with it.

He’s made a few mistakes but in other games he’s been good and is a threat with his crossing and set pieces.

He’s not Kyle Walker but neither are the other two. We don’t have the money to get someone as good as Walker so Poch has to make do.

I think people have been overreacting a bit to Trippier’s recent mistakes.

Back 3 - Tripper. Back 4 - Aurier.

If Rose isn't available then I'd rather play Aurier out left instead of Davies.

Full back is arguably the simplest role to play in football. I'd actually be tempted to play Sissoko there. He has a good engine, is fast and has lots of stamina. Or give KWP a go.

Aurier's stock has increased because Trippier's form is poor. People forget just how bad Aurier has been.

Aurier was finding some form before he got injured, if I recall he was or one of our best players against Inter and Watford, granted there's no guarantee he will perform at a high level every match but surely he has to be a better option that Trippier at the moment.

I think Trippier needs to be taken out the firing line for his own sake at the moment, teams are targeting him because they know he's weak defensively and he's getting worse every match.

He does contribute to our attacking play though and he's created the highest chances in our team so I do see some merit to playing him but that right side is like a sieve at the moment and every team we play know it's a weakness of ours therefore he should be dropped.

Aurier for sure. He just needs a damn run in the team. Just get him in and let him play, he appears much less erratic in the few games this season. He will have a mistake in him for sure, there is no denying that, BUT we just play him through. He wont be seen as someone to be targeted because he is far quicker than Trippier.

I'm not answering the poll because there should be another option- rotate based on merit and opportunities and challenges presented by the opponent/two or three opponents coming up.

Trips seems to be taking the shirt for granted when Poch should instead be keeping him on his toes. His defensive performances have been poor of late. And particularly v Liverpool, Barca and Cardiff (the last games I went to) he was cowardly or profligate going forward as well. By cowardly I mean just passing back to the CBs time after time, not threatening his opponent at all.

He should not start either of the next two games- certainly not against Zaha.

That's a scary thought with trippiers current form

I'm in the lets give Aurier a run of games camp and see how it goes, I think even if he makes a mistake early on in the run we should stick with him, I want people to get a run of games before dismissing them. For me if it doesn't work out then vert will be back and then we have more flexibility in our formation which will mean people can play to their strengths.

I voted Aurier but in reality it's Aurier against any big team / away game / team with a pacey LW.

So trips would play against most premier league teams at home still. Great going forward but defensively weak.

I'm keen to see Aurier get a good run but he does worry me in our own penalty area.

For right now I think there's a chance for Poch to show some good man management. He's had a public dig at Trippier (more or less) and I'm sure will be giving him a private bollocking. If he can then give Trippier the chance to go out and show that he's learnt from it then that could be the best overall situation.

I don't like the idea that if a player makes a few mistakes they get dropped. If they aren't putting in a shift or aren't doing what the manager wants then fine, but we definitely don't want the players to lose their creativity in fear of making mistakes and losing their place.

Trips at RB, Aurier at LB for me at the moment.

Best start in the league ever, let's change the side and drop one of our most creative players? You all know my vote.

Would have been +2 GD better off at least if not for him on Saturday though.
His mistake V Man City led to the only goal too.
I get what you're saying and don't disagree. But the frequency his mistakes are costing us is getting noticed by a lot of people.

KWP for me, two starts in the Prem, two MOTM performances (although they were generous). He will get better, Trippier won't, Serge......will lose us more games with stupid fouls and penalties than he'd win.

Tbh I'd rather we buy in Jan

As much as sol Campbell is a bit extreme.
Sol is a c**t. Trippier isn’t, hes just being arrogant at the moment and blaming others for his mistakes .
