The lad at Palace.

100% this ^^^

Converted to a wing back from Midfield when it became apparent that the lad is very good in the defensive elements of the game. He loves a tackle and is pretty damn successful in this department.

With a bit of coaching on the attacking side of his game, he could be a truly great acquisition.

This isn't a transfer wishlist.

Lol@us signing a full back in January btw.

Aurier just doesn't look like he knows what he's doing out there tbh.

Im sorry but people calling for Aurier back in the team obviously forgot most of his performances last season.

Very poor going forward tonight, and just doesn’t look like he is going to improve, looks out of his depth.

So watching Aurier tonight I’m thinking I wish Trippier was on and then he comes on and does his usual dumb concede a free kick for no reason and point at Winks routine and I realised both our senior RBs just aren’t good enough.

I’d still pick Aurier or KWP against Palace.

Yet his best performances always come after a run of games. He needs rhythm and unfortunately he keeps getting injured just as he's looking solid.

Aurier can defend, trippier can not.
Least you all forget he made a goal saving tackle in tonight's game that trippier would never have done because he can't move

But aurier can't cross so there it is.
I'd rather have a defender first personally

Winner, for me the glaring moment was when Lozano squared up Aurier on the sideline tried to make a move, then gave up and passed the ball backwards. Tripps on for 15 min and makes a defensive error giving up a FK. Give me the better defender. He can pop in a cross decent enough comparable to other fullbacks. Better defense + average delivery > worse defense + better delivery.

You have to be trolling now, his first touch is embarrassing for a professional, he doesn't seem to quite understand all the rules of the game and his final ball is complete shite...he's not even that fast, positionally he is absolutely shocking and switches off frequently...and here you are, still trying to convince yourself he's the better player.

Lol.

Yes but bottom line neither are good enough and Aurier was / is a perplexing signing from a club that knew for 6 months we needed a RB and had £50m in the bank from selling our previous RB. If that’s what our scouting network throws up then sack the lot of them.

Hope we can revert back to 3-5-2 again soon. Then we can safely play Trips and in that advanced role he's a real weapon.
In a back 4 you'd play Aurier

He was a pretty solid player at PSG, I understood the purchase at the time. He said himself not having a preseason was a struggle for him last year, and don't think he could speak English last year. He's been solid for the most part this season, and he shows moments of what he's capable of. It's all about focus for him. He's got all the ability to do the job and he shows glimpses of his full potential.

Aurier all the way.

In today's football, fullbacks are crucial, and what's most important about them is pace and stamina to go up and down fast. Trippier can't do that. So unless we're using wing backs, it's got to be Aurier

Did you guys actually watch the match?
What did he do today that was so atrocious? You do realize Trippier has literally cost us goals in several recent matches. Including a stupid fucking foul in this exact game!

Aurier not costing a goal is literally an improvement.

He was reasonably solid defensively but let’s not kid ourselves that he is peak Walker solid or that he has the same pace and power. Compared to Trippier yes he is a better defender and yes he is quicker and more powerful but that is a really poor benchmark. Offensively he adds nothing and is way behind Trippier, who in my opinion also isn’t the best because he lacks pace and just relies on his crossing. We could and should have purchased way better. Neither player is good enough for a team that wants to challenge for the title. For what it’s worth I think Davies is a left sided Aurier, competent defender but not great and offers nothing offensively.

I think most of us on here were pretty psyched when we signed Aurier. I think he can add some offensively, he and Lucas link decently well over there and he is able to complete a give and go because he has the burst to get past a man.

I may be Walkers biggest fan on here so I promise you I don't need to be told he is no Kyle Walker.
