They don't have to. Just run current contracts down and move it all in-house.
Full subscription, individual team subscription and on-demand games. Three tier charging model to cover most consumer types and they are made. It's a no-brainer, the current model (competitive market with multiple subs) isn't working for the public hence such a massive rise in piracy.
Netflix/Spotify model has tackled piracy in music and TV shows and made those markets viable again. Time to do it for football before the market collapses.
