I’ll put link below of Simon Jordan talking about this. But it seems to obvious, there must be a snag ? But essentially the Premier league have and own the content why do they even need sky ? All sky do is the production surely the PL could do it themselves and keep all the revenue. I’m sure some clever person here will rule it out for some reason. But considering I think I saw the PL is watched by 2.7 Bn worldwide getting 100m subscribers at £10 a month seems realistic.

Tbh I’ve been thinking this for ages.

You could easily charge £20 a month show every game and they’ll have people falling over themselves to subscribe.

They already do... a company called Premier League Productions does it for ALL of the overseas broadcasters.

A bit of info about them here:
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/feature...-know-nothing-about-servicing-730m-fans-every

A likely drawback would be the initial infrastructure needed to get pictures to 1-3 billion people....TV networks can already do this, but i doubt it'd be easy or cheap.
Netflix innit. Jobs a goodun

Or amazon or YouTube would fight to do it I’m sure

New world

This is for the uk ??

Also dazn pay the premier league to show the games where this is the premier league selling straight to customers
BT Sport have launched an Apple TV App. DAZN are based in London only a matter of time before they launch in the UK. Also isn't the whole point of Sky, Bt Etc because they are platforms that broadcast more than one type of sport and entertainment. I wouldn't be interested in a subscription just to watch prem league football.

Benefit of being in the US is that with NBC Sports app and subscription to NBC Sports Gold for $50 a season you get all the PL games live or On-Demand. So it is easily done but I dread to think what would happen to Sky if they lost the rights.

However Netflix Premier League style has massive appeal and is no doubt only a matter of time in this "watch you want when you want it"age.

I doubt dazn will come to England due to them not having prem football.

Look how bad eleven sports have done over here.

Sky are losing subscribers.

I absolutely would. I've wanted a system like this for years. instead of having to rely on streams.

You are prob right.

'Eleven Sports has attracted only about 50,000 subscriptions since its UK launch in August, according to the Telegraph which broke the news of the streaming service’s difficulties. Eleven Sports charges £5.99 a month.

The rival sports streaming service Dazn, which is owned by the Warner Music owner and Spotify investor Len Blavatnik, has said it will not launch in the UK because the market is too competitive.' https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...e-facing-closure-in-uk-after-only-four-months

Doubtful then the Premier League will compete against Sky. Movies Tv shows etc still I would assume make a bigger proportion of viewing than just the EPL

Not only that, you aren't even guaranteed to be interested in the games that they're airing. I want to watch every Spurs game and a few of the top teams. I couldn't really give two shits about Wolves vs Newcastle or any of the Championship games that Sky broadcast. But I don't get to pick what I watch, and that's shit.

Premier league having there own platform would kill sky.

I left sky about 2 years ago and gone with IPTV and Netflix/plex and would never go back.

Only have by sports due to getting it free with broadband.

If I was in charge I would absolutely go alone and do what Simon Jordan said.

IPTV? Are we talking about IPTV.shop? What exactly do you get?
Dunno what this but IPTV is a group that you subscribe to that has all the channels world wide. So you get to watch all the sports etc

It’s not exactly legal though

Edit: it’s not something rob would like talking about on here

Then it's pointless really. It's a short term solution that prob wont last. Sky is expensive but what you get is a excellent product.

Exactly although it’s something that’s been around a decade in different forms.

That’s why the premier going alone and doing it themselves instead of having 3 different suppliers selling there games is the way to go.

I’d cancel Sky tomorrow if they lost PL football and I’d imagine 90% others would do the same. The only other sport I watch seriously on Sky is F1.
