Before the usual crew start having a go saying poch doesn't care about the cups (he's got us to a semi and a final since he has been manager) he is simply explaining the need to rest a couple of players and that the fa cup is less of a priority than the champions league or premier league.

there is also this, seems to be on a similar train of thought:
http://global.espn.com/football/tot...rs-critics-to-stop-obsessing-about-silverware

"I understand that in football you don't have time.

"But our performances are so, so good. People say: 'Tottenham is playing well, is showing massive performances, but it is nothing if you don't win [trophies].' That is not true. It is not true.

"Football is about being able to enjoy. The people pay for their tickets to enjoy their team playing well. If you win the title, then fantastic, but it's about today and every day.

"Do we want to win trophies? Of course. We want to win trophies and celebrate with our fans. I am a positive person and, for sure, if it takes one year, two years or five years, we are going to win a big trophy one day."

I don't believe a League Cup would stop the 'they need to win trophies' comments - it didn't change much under Ramos, and you wouldn't say that period was more enjoyable than this one. FA Cup, maybe for nostalgia's sake, but the big ones are a European trophy and the league. Close in the league in the last two years and the results this season are making people wonder whether the CL is a possibility (Jenas for one...).

Still, beat Rochdale and get through one more round before two home games to lift the cup!

Trophies are always going to be on a moving scale of priority and it doesn't have much clarity until you get deep into the season. If you're in the title hunt then the FA Cup is less important and if you're going well in the CL maybe the League drops down a bit. If you're out of everything else the FA Cup becomes hugely important. Managing those priorities is a tough job for the Manager because it's so easy with a bit of hindsight to say 'Why didn't we chuck everything at the Haribo Cup?' (or whatever).

The media can suck my salty balls. A trophy would be lovely, as Poch has said but I've never come close to loving supporting spurs as much as I love supporting this team. He is right.

If we win the fa cup all that changes is the media go on about how we need to win the big trophy.
They will say that we've only won it once, it isn't the CL or the EPL; in other words, they will find something, because we aren't supposed to be there.

The draw was interesting: it could mean very heavy semis.

TBF and without letting too much complacency set in that draw means that we would not have to play a full strength squad until the Semis which reduces the impact on the other 2 fronts

Not sure about that. Swansea can beat big teams if they're not up for it.
