Feel kinda sorry for him. There's a top quality striker in there somewhere. His an absolute ace for the Netherlands, it may just be that our style of play doesn't accommodate him. I'd then rather start pointing fingers at the scouting team rather then shoot this blokes confidence to shit.

I don't know if it's how he has been told to play, but it seems to me that he needs to find space in other areas of the pitch so that he doesn't always receive the ball with his back to goal and a CB right on him. He gets involved in too much arm wrestling which, although he's pretty good at it, doesn't get him in many scoring positions.

True, he may be more effective as a number 10 with Dele or Son playing as a number 9. I don't think he'd enjoy that too much though.

Is this just a reflection of the fact that we cant find anyone else to replace him who realistically looks like an upgrade? As long as we play one up front, Kane will start every game when he is fit, so its going to be difficult to find a 'top' striker to join when they will know they will be spending most of the time on the bench.

In addition, when we marauding down the wing, too often he moves out of the box closer to the guy with the ball. It is one of the reasons he has his back to the goal if it is given to him.

I had a dream the other night. Well in part it was a nightmare. Kane left (the nightmare part) and we were left with Vincent. Sadly I woke up before I found out if he'd stepped up. He was keen though.

I may be clutching at straws here but I really think I saw some improvement in him over the season. True he didn't look like a 17m player or like he was about to score the way Kane does but in September he looked out of his depth but by April maybe getting to grips with it.

I really want him to succeed, he seems genuine and has a good personality, well liked by the team which says a lot and he always tries hard for the team.

But he seems too slow, not strong enough or tall or with a big leap, no acceleration or has the ability to powerfully shoot. Some players might overcome these limitations with a great football brain but he just seems to me that he is okay at everything without being good at any one thing.

All valid points. What I do like about him is that he will often offload the ball if he is not in a position to shoot unlike Kane (not that it's a bad thing). It's just that he provides something different. His a great finisher, passes the ball into the net. His never going to be a great, but if he can chip in with 20 goals across all comps. For 17mil? I'd be pretty happy with that.

well it read like a lovely 14 minute cameo last night. one great assist and one brilliant finish.

Is that accurate for anyone who watched?

Sadly the finish wasn't brilliant, he tried to knock it in with his right but deflected off his left shin. I really do hope that he finds some confidence and gets to grip with things this season though as he has shown with his previous club and Holland that he is a very good finisher.
