To be honest some of us were just annoyed he made a statement he knew would start endless speculation and gossip by the media before the end of the season. I never had doubts he was staying this summer but it was annoying having people everywhere telling us he was leaving this summer because of it.

This impromptu announcement was probably a direct reaction to that. He waited through 10mins of his press conference this morning and came out with this announcement as soon as the PSG question was asked.

Delighted he is extending though, it's obvious how much of a positive impact he is having at the club.

I was actually told on April 9th (by someone who has been proclaimed as knowing absolutely nothing on here) that the contract was verbally agreed & would be announced at the end of the season. I think you've hit the nail on the head, re the PSG chat bringing forward the announcement.

Anyway, as others have said. This is the biggest/most important signing of the summer. COYS
