Pochettino has a win ratio, in the Premier League, of less than 39%. In Spain, his record with Espanyol was even worse. A little over 33%.

For me, he's not the man to lead us in the challenge for the top 4 again. This is a critical appointment (as they all are), but if Levy gets it wrong again, he'll have no option but to go as well. The man for us FDB, a leader, a winner and a big big name.

I worry that Southampton have had one big name in Pochettino's time - and Osvaldo didn't last. What would he be like with our prima donnas star players?

Roberto Martinez's win percentage at Wigan would have been even worse yet given better players he's had a good first season at Everton and will probably have an even better second season.

What a ridiculous stat. If his win ratio was better than 50-60% Southampton would have finished above us. If you want to sign a manager just by his win percentage, why not look at Ranieri, Scolari or Mancini? Pointless.

Much prefer FDB as first choice, I do kind of agree with the headline. I don't really get what he has done to justify potentially being picked ahead of a manager who has won things consistently as a player and manager (even in a short managerial career!).

He managed to guide Espanyol to 8th place (1 place shy of EL place) in 2010-11, but results worsened after that. We know that Espanyol had severe money issues and were selling players right, left and centre, so this would at least play a part in the drop off - not absolving him of any blame but it's got to be hard to get results during a Leeds Utd-style fire sale. If it was like that then keeping the club in La Liga would be a result. However by his last season even that looked at risk so they made a change and his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Agreed, his win percentage was actually 32%. A good stat to look at but not the only one.

I look at it this way. Would any of the current top four sides take him? If the answer is no, then why should we if we aspire to be a perennial top four side?

Even better would be Sherwood, who even listed his own stats! :ROFLMAO:

Because they already have managers? I'm pretty sure the top fours current managers would get the Spurs job if they were available. So there is no need for them to look for a replacement in Pochettino.

Rodgers was also in a similar position while at Swansea, as his win percentage was 40%. Liverpool took a chance on him and look where they are now.
To me the style of play and man management comes before stats. Especially when the teams cannot really compare finacially, or with the quality in the squad.

I'm struggling to get excited about him too. Not saying he wont do a decent job if appointed but surely there is better available?

I wanted Rafa Benitez. Know the english game inside out. Winner wherever he goes and would command the respect just like Mourinho, Wenger and Pelligrini.

I'd be on with rafa. Really would like a manager that has done it and is respected. Is that too much to give a little boy on his birthday?

Avoiding the question, that you truly know the answer to.

The answer to the question is this. The top four teams are able to attract better managers than us. Mourinho, Wenger, Rodgers and Pellegrini would very unlikely manage Spurs. Van Gaal is waiting for Man Utd to offer him the job, so would clearly join a team out of Europe over us. So why do you feel we are in a position to hire a better manager? I think you need a reality check and realise we are not one of the top clubs in the World. I love Tottenham and always will, but I also realise we are a top 6 side, not 4.
I'm now waiting for someone to say Benitez, yet he was sacked by both Liverpool and Chelsea. Man City have changed managers and didn't go for him either.

A simple "Yes" or "No" would suffice. Just one word. No need for an essay.

Here we go:

Question:

I look at it this way. Would any of the current top four sides take him? If the answer is no, then why should we if we aspire to be a perennial top four side?

I think you'll find the question you asked is impossible to answer with just a yes or no. If you believe it is, you need to read your own question and try and answer it yourself.
I've answered your question in the way I believe necessary. If it doesn't satisfy, please move on.

For some people it appears that way.

All i want is a manager who knows how to get the best out of the players...

The only one in recent memory that is able to do that was Arry... Yeah he had strange tactics and horrible substitutions... But he knew how to get the best out of the team...

Think thats wat we need, a manger who can unite the team and get the best out of them.
