Agree.A big part of Ferguson's success was due to his intimidating character and foul temper. The FA, officials, players and other managers were all intimidated by him.Add to that the media continually blowing smoke up his arse for 20 years plus their spending power and it's a recipe for success.
He was an incredible manager but as a Spurs fan, I always thought of him as a really annoying purple faced arse. A bully, intimidating, refusing to do BBC interviews for years following an investigation into his son, buying up all competitor's best talent (like Milan used to do for years).
He was able to achieve this because his initial brilliance as a coach and manager giving him the success he had timed perfectly with massive amounts of TV money that created an almost unassailable brand. Until Wenger and his knowledge of the French league, there really was no stopping him and in the end it took a Russian billionaire then an entire OPEC state to unseat and compete with them.
