Head coach Mauricio Pochettino accepts Tottenham are going through a “very tough period”, but believes something special is in the offing - with silverware not too far away.

It's been ups and downs this far, but I think there's many encouraging signs and improvements on the whole. Hopefully we'll see more of the positive stuff and less of the negatives as the season goes on.

Many teams are struggling, and we're in no way being left behind in this years league. This being said, if we qualify for the Europa League again, I'm quite content with the season. Hopefully with a decent cup-run or two.

As painful as it may seem at times we need to back this guy for an extended period and let him stamp his authority on the team.

Aspects of his management (fitness/def-attack balance/team play rather than individuals etc) are as good as it has been for a while.

With our squad now we are not relying on one player for a performance every game like we did with Bale, Berba or Ginola, so if a player goes for good money it is less of a problem.

Lloris is our best player BUT if he did go, we can get our hands on another good keeper bearing in mind a goalies influence on outfield play is limited relative to a quality central midfielder.

If we can keep hold of the handful of decent, young players we have, bring some of the underachievers on and uncover a couple of diamonds in the rough I believe we can expect to be in a position to actually win something consistently. Shock horror!

…or we could kick him out halfway through this season and start again (again)

We did sign a top striker. I think you mean a striker that fits right in with zero issues.

Good points 'NayimsSocks' You are right, the fans will have to back Pochetto.....His ideas, especially as regards fitness and team play are slowly starting to show through. Also we don't currently have a super-star player (beyond Lloris) to fall back on; although Ericksen could, over time, develop into one.
Spurs' young home-developed talent is probably their brightest spot but it appears that winning something consistently - the way the Prem. is developing with club sponsorship and massive amounts of money - could be a way off, however Spurs' new stadium plans could well influence the need to keep competitive here.
So, even although Spurs' might spend a few years as a 'promising' (and mid-table?) club they will have to stay the course with their Manager.

tough period?
OK, we are mid-table, but with good results at arsenal and west ham to sooth us, fans are still pretty supportive.
Chances are, it is going to get a lot tougher than this for him over the next year.

Absolutley No way should we kick him out and start again he needs to be given time and funds to achieve what he wants although winning anything is optimistic on his part but love his positivity.
One of the reasons we are in this mess is no continuity and changing managers and poor player recruitment.

I seem to be the only one thinking we're doing ok this season. Besides the stuff up with West Brom (even City lost at home to a minnow this season so shut up)...Last week out we gave the champions a run for their money, if Mason had put his shooting boots on we might have even won that game (fair play to the lad, he's a super prospect). If we can string 3 or 4 wins on the trot now we'll be in a decent league position when we face Manu and Chelsea. I believe we can even beat Manu. COYS!...please
