I was never a huge fan and I was always surprised everyone who bigged him up on here. A tidy player but not much else. Hopefully he can take his game up a notch as I didn't see much improvement with him at Spurs. Good luck to the lad

Good memories:
1. Him being a total showstopper in Townsends "stand by me video" by wearing the worlds biggest hat.
2. Goals against Monaco,Gillingham and Norwich.
3. The Bale assist.
4. Him bossing the first half at Goodison Park last season.

Godspeed, mr. Carroll. I wish you good fortune in the years to come.Especially when you're playing our rivals.

I love how that one moment, one pass 40 yards from goal to Bale before he smashed it in the top corner became for years the go to example of what constitutes an assist.

In my opinion, that was fully deserving of an assist. Well done, Tommy.

Never fully showed, what he did at youth level for the first team. Everyone saw the tidy knitting play together youngster, but never his great vision, and creative, sometimes outreageous passing. Shame in the end, and while introducing him earlier may have yielded different results even on his loans he didn't show that side of his game as much as he probably should, and therefore never forced anyones hand to play him. Best performances came for Eng u21s, and he carried out his role as a squad player excellently last year

Maybe a lack of confidence or belief in the end was his downfall but certainly had great ability. Another feather in the hat since the academy revamp as we sell another to PL club for a healthy profit

I hope that's not a one off, and he goes on to make a serious career for himself. Never moaned, always played with a smile, never hid when it got tough. As the Yanks say, what's not to like?

Not sure about this. He played well, but to be honest he is not good enough for us.

Who would he replace in our squad.

Also he was up against a rubbish team ;)

I'm not saying he should have stayed. I'm talking about the fans calling him shit and a championship player.

My first hope has been realised. Yesterday I said I hope he helps Swans beat 'pool and beat Shitty on Feb 8. Let's hope he plays another blinder then and helps our cause for he's a Spurs at heart.

Let's not fall into the trap of thinking that we got a bad deal or shouldn't have sold Tom. It's great that he has started well for his new club and brilliant that he has helped take points off a rival but like Siggy before him he is now playing in a side that suits him. That doesn't mean we missed out and he would have made it at Spurs.

Teams play very differently against us and Swansea. Tom had plenty of opportunity to show what he could do for Spurs and fell short of what was required. The term "horses for courses" applies here. Good luck to him (except when he plays us ;)) but I'm glad we got rid.

Although I hope he has a decent enough career, I think it was absolutely the right decision to sell him, not a single doubt. And whatever the actual transfer fee was, the 3 points he's helped to take off Liverpool today means that we've already got our money's worth from the sale - excellent deal for all parties... except Liverpool! :ROFLMAO:

Selling him this week to make sure he was ready to play today was all part of Poch's plan :)

With a couple of notable exceptions it's always nice to see our old boys doing well. Good luck to him.
