How much will we make from those sales? £25m for Toby, £60-70m for Eriksen? Plus the £11m for Dembélé and odds and sods from other departures. There's going to be a not inconsiderable amount to be chucked back in and the core of the squad is stronger than last time we needed a significant refresh.
It’s not about the money though- apparently we’ve been throwing dosh at players. Just not ones that Poch wants

or buy N'Dombele which we also thought we were close to last summer until Aulas went and slapped a 75M price on him
Ndombele is my #1 Dembele replacement so I'd be ecstatic. I still think we could call Aulas' bluff there, Fekir was off last summer for 50 and he is their best player and captain.

It's all dependent on how we may invest. I don't believe we can't still reach high levels of play. We've been playing the majority of this season with a makeshift central midfield partnership, underperforming fullbacks and a load of injuries throughout. We could have a much better balanced side than what we have now IMO and we're currently sitting third still. Vertonghen + Sanchez is still a fail solid partnership and there's still a lot of ability in the team with Son, Dele and Kane in particular.

I'm not actually worried about players leaving, even Eriksen. I trust Poch to keep us at a high level if he has the right tools. I'm just worried about our potential inability to bring in players of quality.
Thats why I'm not looking forward to it.

Yep. A large part of me thinks there's no way we could have another poor window but I was astonished even the first time in the summer and also (although admittedly somewhat prepared) in the winter too so I'd also feel stupid to rule out having another poor window.

Loads being worked on as was the case last summer- but deals fell through for Wanyama N'Koudou, Dembele, Victor which affected our squad and spend- if you all knew who will be leaving this summer you would and wouldn't be surprised but as we sit here today i'm expecting big changes. Now if we don't secure Champs League it completely changes that so we have to have 2 options and cant be as proactive as we want.

God I hope we can just crawl over the line for 4th and go again in the summer.

I fear the worst if we miss out on champions league football.

Will never come out but just a big falling out with manager who cannot be crossed. Which is right but in the case of Kyle we have gone backwards since as players coming in haven't worked out as we wanted.

Good to know, really have to hope things more so fall in place this time around with the outgoings and hopefully we won't be going through most of the window with deadwood still in the squad. Makes me even more worried to not make the CL reading that, even if one would assume that being the case anyway. Thanks for the info as always mate.

If only there had been some way for us to reinforce the squad last summer.. like some kind of transfer 'doorway' where new players could walk through...

Thanks to JJ for info.

So just as we're about to turn a corner, there;s a possibility of not making top 4, and a high chance that we won't be able to attract calibre of player required to push on. You couldn't make it up.

Typical Spurs, really.

We couldn't attract that calibre of player even with CL and loadsa TV and endorsement money with these owners so what's the difference?

The "would" be surprised bit is rather ominous, especially if we're seriously thinking about new fullbacks and a couple of CMs... :(

Sounds like there'll be more outs than just Vorm, Alderweireld, Llorente, Janssen & Nkoudou. Personally I'm hoping the mainstays of the squad are Vertonghen, Foyth, Sanchez, Winks, Eriksen, Dele, Son & Kane. The others I'd be open to wheeling and dealing for if push comes to shove

Sorry but resting him for one match, a standard league game at that, is not as sinister as you’re portraying.
He rested him, pure & simple

what JJ was saying had nothing to do with Toby being rested v Southampton. Toby has had 2 or 3 rest this season
