If we move to 3 at the back Eriksen will have to play deeper. Otherwise Son will lose his spot in the team when returns and that would be a disgrace considering Toby was trying to leave.
This team looks great, although it'll be Davies instead of Rose.

Lloris
Trippier Toby Sanchez Jan Rose
Dier
Dele Eriksen
Kane Son

Would quite happily roll with that for most of the season tbh.

Providing everyone's head is in the right place and they stay fit and on form, obviously.

It does looks good. In terms of midfield and attack backup/rotation options it would be:

Wanyama/Amos
Lucas/Sissoko Winks/Dembele Lamela
Llorente

It could be a lot worse to be fair.

Agreed. Get Grealish & Sessegnon next summer with both having one year left on their contracts this time next year, bring in a centreback such as De Ligt if he continues progressing this season which proves his worth is more justified to replace Toby and all looks good again long term & in the long run. What's to be concerned about? ;)

Give me Toby in the starting lineup over seeing poor old Sissoko any day of the week. 3 at the back is a little negative, but only if you utilise your fullbacks incorrectly.

If Toby stays, use him for the greater good when need be
Id only play him if he signs a new deal personally....sets a very bad precedent otherwise.

Do you sell if he doesn't sign or just not play him? I guess it all depends on how Foyths progression is going before being able to seriously answer that one

Echo what everyone else is saying we need him in a 3 at the back. Esp if aurier plays cause he goes missing.

Id sell if the moneys right this window or Jan.
Problem is he's going for 25m next summer...to any of our rivals if he wants.
Ideal scenario: they bury the hatchet and he signs a new deal, not confident that'll happen though.

Utd spent £30m + Mikhataryan on Sanchez 6 months before he was due to be free. Would be insulting to Toby if he hey don’t do much better than that 6 months before he’s due to cost £25m. That’s said, let’s hope by then he’s playing and signed a new deal.

Sell abroad this summer for £40m would be a risk but I like Foyth and I think doing so if he doesn't sign a new deal will be long term for the greater good.

Keeping Dembele under the circumstances is more important than keeping Rose or Toby

You have got to assume that since he didn't leave, Poch must be planning on re-integrating Toby into the squad (unless he goes abroad in the next couple of weeks).

We're at our best with three at the back and Poch certainly seemed to believe in it for a period of time.

Let's all hope the two of them have reconciled and we see Toby become a regular starter for us again - we simply couldn't get a better back three than him, Sanchez and Jan.

Need his calming influence asap. We were at sixes and sevens today. Aurier was all over the place. Shocking.

I’m hoping that we can do a deal with at least one of them in Jan and loan them back to their respective clubs until the summer , as I’m expecting their fees to increase if we wait until the summer to try and negotiate any deals for them.

Alasdair Gold reporting that Poch was talking post match about drawing a line under everything for each player and starting from zero. Which nicely coincides with Toby’s tweet. It be great if him and rose can give us another season (or more!).

It's a no brainer that we need 3 at the back everything adds up for it.

1. Our fullbacks today were woeful defensively
2. Trippier looks dam near world class as a rwb fixing one half of the fullback issue
3. It means we have more of our top quality players within the 11
4. Our weakest area is midfield at the moment and we can alleviate a lot of the midfield shortcomings with alder, he's a better passer than our two dm's and makes us more stable in the middle.

3-3-3-1 for me

Alder Sanchez Vert
Trippier Dier Davies/KWP
Moura Eriksen Dele
Kane
