I'd be delighted if he stayed one more season, means we don't need to work on the central defence as we have far more pressing concerns in other areas of the pitch. The CD situation can be looked at next year.

One more season, win a trophy, then back home to Ajax. Fair play I say, he's been superb for us. One of the best CB's I can recall seeing at Spurs.

I'd be a lot happier keeping him and letting him go on a free next summer.

Too much upheaval in defence otherwise with Trippier gone and Rose likely to join him.

I would like to see Sanchez integrated more though next season as he's the long-term successor and we don't want to lose him.

Cut to a shot of Daniel Levy unplugging the phones, setting his email to 'out of the office' and giving himself and everyone the week off.

I'd be surprised if Toby left. Looks like he is just going to run his contract down and leave on a free.

Toby has clearly had offers already, but obviously doesn’t want any of them. I suppose for him to leave us this summer, they’d have to tick both an excellent financial package and an excellent sporting opportunity.

Not many teams can offer more than we can nowadays!

Even if this was true it’s pretty pointless, nobody came in at £25m and a guarantee of no negotiations with Levy so why would they bother now

Arsenal knew that signing him at 25 mill wouldn't get the fans on side they're waiting for the opportune big and expensive moment.

Nobody will pay a transfer fee and the wages he wants, they'll just wait until next season.
Toby will be in no rush to leave as we're now a very attractive team to play for.
And Poch would rather have him for another season rather than try and replace him for only 25 million.

Levy is probably the only one who would prefer the money but as he's focussing on investing in the first team he'll leave it up to Poch.
As a result, I see absolutely no reason why Toby would go this Summer.

Never change Daniel. Never change :D
And why should he? The market has changed drastically since the original 25m release clause was inserted. If whats his face ( Dunk I think ) is being quoted at £45m then Toby is sure worth £40m

I'm guessing that its a statement to stop the likes of Roma from thinking he'll be cheaper after the clause expires, based on the 12 months left thing.

I agree but also fear losing Toby and Jan on frees in the same window next summer. Can’t begrudge them to be honest, especially Verts who rightly will be classed as a loyal Rolls Royce legend. Going to miss him big time.

Regardless of age, Verts should get a long term deal...our best defender and I’m sure a role model for many players at the club.
