We'll have to find a new manager if we keep Toby.
Just to keep this thread going round and round in circles, I cannot believe that Pochettino would consistently pick a player if the relationship had broken down to that extent, whilst hindering Sanchez's development by keeping him benched whilst fully fit and available. It'd be ridiculous.

We need Cupid to aim his arrows at Poch & Toby.

Toby seems happy at our club and I’m still hopeful that he will be with us next season.

Thats precisely it

We saw what happened with Walker... and Townsend etc

And unless Toby shagged Pochs' mother and missus in a threesome romp, I cant imagine something so bad has happened that it is irreparable.

Anyways, I think he has just been unreal this season and the consistency of his performances, the passion he has shown has been exceptional

Surely there must be a way to forward here? Toby looked absolutely ecstatic after Hugo saved that penalty kick. Hopefully the atmosphere at NWHL coupled with the buzz around the team can convince TA to stay.

I guess I'm grasping at straws here but separating the best CB pairing in the PL is just plain stupid.

The main thing for me is that it's potentially stifling the development of our record signing, who Poch was happy to play ahead of him last season, would he really do that for the majority of this season if he was so set on being rid of Toby now?

I think it’s more to do with him not signing the new contract but Poch isn’t an idiot and knows that having Alderwiereld in the team, even with the contract situation, is better than not having him in it.

Play him to within an inch of his life, drain every bit of football out of him. If it’s better for the club to do that than not play him, then that’s what Poch will do.

I really wish Poch could make an exception and try and patch this over for the sake of this next phase in our development. I really think if Toby AND Eriksen both leave this summer we leave ourselves practically zero chance of coming out stronger overall. There’s just too much to do in one window.

I would definitely take a deal in which we essentially keep Toby for one more year, i.e bump his wages and keep the same or ever so slightly lower release clause next year so he can move to the likes of Juventus then if he wants. Would buy us time to try and fix other problems this summer and plan for his potential departure next year, when Foyth and Sanchez will be a year older and wiser too.

The thought of replacing Alderwereld with the error prone Sanchez fills me with dread

Its no surprise that the defending is much better since he is dropped

I think Toby would love to play at Spurs next season if we could pay him what he wants. At 30 he knows he has one last good contract coming. I cant say I resent him for that.

Been absolutely vital to us this season. I really hope Poch and Toby can patch things up. The injury concerns from last year have been largely disproven this season. He's still got a few years in him yet, same as Jan.

I can't really see a reason to not offer him a wage befitting of his ability and give him a lump sum upfront. It will cost a lot more than what he'd want in any signing bonus to replace him.

if he and the back 4 can keep up that level of performance for the run-in then we wont concede many.

With the supposed release clause of £25million, does anyone know this works? I understand that if a club offers it before the final two weeks of the window we have to accept it, but what if we cant agree a deal with the buying club, as in they want to pay in X amount of instalments but we want it all up front, or something like that. Surely we can then pull out of the deal, or do we have to accept whatever is on the table?

I’d imagine they have to offer it all up front.
