Gotta agree with @tiger666 here. There have been times where he's been ushered off the ball, but there's also been more than a few times where he's used a good amount of power & aggression when chasing back and stopping shooting chances when we've been caught on the break etc.

Sanchez is one of our strongest / most powerful players. The times he has been 'pushed' off the ball have been more down to naivety than strength (apart from when WBA's Rondon did him at Wembley and Rondon is a rare physical beast albeit a crap CF). At 21 he has not always realised that an opponent will 'nudge him' when off balance and he has already adjusted for that. He is fast and strong and has 'run down' and 'eased out' more CFs than any other of our defenders this season IMO.

Christ on a bike. Sanchez is 21, it's his first season in the Premier League, he was thrown in at the deep end playing a shit load more football than he ever thought he would because of Toby's injury. He's had a fantastic season.

Can't say I've personally heard or read anything about Poch saying he's happy to sanction any transfer of Alderweireld (the bit in bold) but.....

SkySports Michael Bridge : “Alderweireld, I can’t see him staying at Tottenham. As it stands, Manchester United are the club who want him.

“They are the frontrunners, I can’t see anyone in La Liga spending the sort of money that Tottenham want. Obviously Spurs fans will be saying ‘we don’t want to sell to a top-six rival’.

He added: “But Mauricio Pochettino, who has signed his new deal to 2023, he’s the one who is saying ‘I’m happy to sanction it. Manchester United are the club who are speaking to Tottenham Hotspur.”

I mean the fact Toby barely played indicates that Poch didn't see much of a need for him.

Yes but Bridge has literally quoted Poch there ?.... he’s the one who is saying ‘I’m happy to sanction it. Manchester United are the club who are speaking to Tottenham Hotspur.”

Wait you think that’s a quote from Poch?

If interested is United it’s going to be an absolute obscene fee, north of £50M easily.

I really couldn’t give a shit what fee they pay us. It’s bad enough having to compete with a team who can pay players half a million a week and who could very well sign one of the best players I’ve ever seen pull on our shirt, without letting them take one of our key players.

What other choice do we have indeed there is no genuine other interest anywhere else? I’d rather sell him for £30M to Barca and I’m sure if there was that bid he would be gone.

It shouldn't really need explaining but this is the journo summarizing what he believes to be Poch's position by (literally) putting words into his mouth.

No one is claiming it's a direct quote.

I just don't get it, though . How could he / they print "I'm happy to sanction it" if those words weren't spoken?

Sorry :(
