Still the best defender I've seen in a Spurs shirt in my lifetime. Not only is he just excellent at defending he can play too!

I would still give the edge to Lesley, had he had been healthy, I don't think we would have been able to keep him. But I think if he sticks around he will be a club legend and be more influential than king was, hopefully he will get some winners medals.

In a class of his own in the Premier League at least.
There are some strong candidates around elsewhere though.
Those Juve defenders are solid as fuck.

He'd walk in to any starting XI on the planet currently. Still only 27 too, so could comfortably have another 6/7 years at the top of his game. One of the players I'm very slightly worried about a £40m/50m+ bid coming in for next Summer.

Great to see him continue his fantastic form into the new season but to be honest did any of us doubt that would be the case? He is incredibly consistent and at a very high standard - best signing for me for a very long time.

So funny reading the first comments on this thread.

True, although to be fair at that time we all thought Dier was going to be a first choice centre back and many got worried when linked to a new defender. That said I was not very excited about the transfer and was dubious about Toby. Thank feck I'm not a scout for Spurs.
