Anyone who thinks we are going to spend 100 million euros on anyone is smoking crack. I will be absolutely gobsmacked if we pay more than £60 million for anyone and very surprised if we go over £50 million for any one player

Painfully agree- especially when we have to upgrade in other areas

Aulas can refer to the Pogba fee all he wants but lets get some clarity. Pogba had won several titles at Juventus, he was voted the best young player at the world cup 2014, he had played in a Champions League Final and he was apart of the french team who had made it to the 2016 euro finals.

He is just posturing but theres plenty of room to debate the fee and the reasons I've mentioned are what id be saying in terms of bringing the price down, Pogba had a long list of accolades and experiences that NDombele does not and he shouldnt command a similar fee.

Agreed, as others have said I think that's aimed at PSG. Much like we'd want much more to even consider selling to a PL rival.

Aulas will try and make it an auction between the interested clubs but in the end I think the De Jong fee will be the benchmark, so around £60-65m. That certainly would qualify at backing Poch!

And those moronic fuckfiddles Utd were happy to pay that price when they were still attractive to up and coming players

On Ndombele, if he's out of our league and unlikely, I hope we don't waste an entire window pretending we had a chance. In fact, I'd be mighty tempted to put in a sizeable offer for Aouar and see what happens. If this is a non starter we need to move on quickly and get some business done otherwise next season will be another 'they didn't get a pre-season' debate.

I suppose that gives us some hope- who’s likely to be after him and can we realistically compete with them? Genuine question so informed responses welcomed on this grey, dull day

So far linked are United, City, Juventus, PSG, Madrid, Spurs

So I'll go through what I know

United - Have more prestige than us, no champions league, can pay better wages and have Pogba already so there's a lot of variables

City - Don't see this transpiring, they're after Rodri from Athletico who more suited to taking over from Fernandinho and N'dombele doesn't fit that mould on being the defensive pin of that midfield.

Juventus - Probably who i'd consider favourites, Aulas already said he'd prefer to sell them but we probably can match them for transfer maybe not wages but our advantage is they have an abundance of midfielders and just added 400k a week Ramsey to the ranks, they'd need a lot of outgoings to fit him in. They already struggle to fit their midfielders in.

PSG - Have FFP problems, main rival to Lyon so can't see them getting their man unless they pay over the odds but they're not in a position to do so, also signed parades in January.

Madrid - Their first choice is Pogba so this is where it gets a little complex because if they sign Pogba then that might give the initiate to United. However they are linked to a whole host of players and from what I gather they've signed Militio (50), Jovic (60) and soon to be hazard (110) already so there's a question over whether they have the money to add him or Pogba but according to Marca he's on their 6 man shortlist and they'll go for him should they not land Pogba

Spurs - We are appealing because the euros are coming up and we and United are the only two on the list who could probably guarantee first team football, so I'd probably put us 2nd favourites if we put together a good financial package. With the financials, we can pretty much offer everything he wants but don't match the prestige of a lot of the teams mentioned.

What they saying?

He's a poster on here who's adamant Ndombele isn't going anywhere. He's got a french name so obviously knows everything about french players (just like all the ones on here with english names are 100% spot on with anything to do with english players) ;).

We paid £45M for Sanchez, a youngster with a high ceiling...

We're talking about potentially one of the top midfielders in World Football, meaning his stock is likely to rise once Poch has worked his magic.

Paying circa £60M, in that scenario, isn't as far fetched as you might believe.
