My understanding is that Son faces a three match ban for violent conduct. Presumably they will not look to get the red card overturned, but will argue for a one or two match ban. Son certainly deserved the red because that was more than your average push, it was two hands and some serious power (reminded me of Bruce Lee's famous one inch punch :) perhaps Son had some martial arts training as a child). In any case, he was provoked, there was no real danger to Lerma, and he didn't come close to his face. I think it is worth an appeal and while I won't hold my breath, I could see it being reduced to a two match ban for example. Don't really mind now in any case, he is not needed on Sunday and gives us extra incentive to buy some players in the summer if he misses a few games next season.
Cannot see it succeeding but I think Lerma helped get him sent off with his somersault after being pushed. Lerma had a few digs at Son during the match, presume that was their plan.

I noticed that just before the incident there was a Bournemouth player on the ground holding his face and the ref is looking directly at him when Son is provoked. He only turns to Son as he pushes Lerner over. I bet if he'd seen the full incident it would have been a yellow each and no-one would be talking about it now.

Son has been far to inconsistant imo...on form his great but has to do more. Eriksen Alli Moura too have to be better... Is criminal how badly they've all dropped off however I'd give Alli a pass due to injuries.

We need big performances from everyone we've potentially three games to go for the biggest story in our clubs history we are the underdogs...I want us to be successful for once, not go through the emotion of almost nearly might-of IF's.

I am nervous as hell for want coming. Not confident at all. I hate feeling this way. I've prepared myself for failure. I just want us to be controlled clinical and relentless.

Saw somewhere that since we're appealing his ban it's suspended until the appeal is finished, meaning he can play Sunday. Is this accurate or am I getting my hopes up? Zaha did something similar this season iirc.

Surely you'd want him to be banned for this match surely?

When will we know if the red card is overturned?

When it's announced. :cautious:

Nah, good point. It's been (I think?) 3 days since we submitted the appeal. You wouldn't think it would take very long for it to be reviewed.

I did try looking for an answer but there's nothing I can find. All I've found is that we informed the PL that we're going to appeal, and then had 24 hours to submit evidence. Interestingly (I know it's The Sun) but it seems we may try a multi-pronged appeal, witch I guess could slow things down a bit.

Spurs are thought to be considering making a claim for wrongful dismissal, with the potential argument that Son merely pushed Lerma rather than being guilty of violent conduct.

Former England caretaker boss Stuart Pearce, speaking on Sky Sports, said: “If Son has just shoved him in the chest, it should be a yellow card.”

Tottenham’s other avenue would be to then argue that the three-match ban Son faces is an “excessive punishment” for his action.

Video evidence could be used to show that the Korean was wound up by a series of alleged incidents perpetrated by the Bournemouth man.

He also appears to have punched Son in the back in the incident which saw him respond.

Apparently the appeal got rejected, oh looks like he's gonna be missing for the first two games of next season.

It's a clear red card by the letter of the law, I know it's difficult for you, but there's really no need to be such a massive fucking prick about it tbh.

It might be a red card but it's certainly not worthy of a 3 match ban when you take into account Lerma's playacting.

But the FA fucking didn't. They have got it in hard for Poch.
