Was difficult, I remember KWP had a great game vs Newcastle then was dropped for Chelsea and Trips was woeful and I was desp for a signing. I also thought Aurier looked like he would be world class vs dortmund, did his little duck down turn right infront of me, I'd love for him to kick on but I'm concerned about another year of wasting KWP.
I was all for selling Trippier after the world cup when his value was never going to be higher. Let ManU have fun with him against all the speed in the league.

So many opinions on this guy from folks but when he plays well and is our best player on the night it's all crickets in here. Other players can be shit for whole seasons but when they pick their nose the right way they become world class and certain folks can't stop chirping about it. Weird dynamic.

I think that's harsh, he gets a lot of love generally

Everyone was so shell shocked after the game I don't think people were thinking 'wow how good was Serge'

Also it was Davies (so slow) on the other flank and also so little pace down our right side that it made Serge look even better at times against lets face it a very poor Inter. Would have been good to see Rose rip them apart

For me he's a top player, just needs to calm down a little and work on his final ball. I was at Palace away the other season and his delivery was 'interesting' that day

Remember going to the Olympic Stadium v West Ham very early in his Spurs career and for me was MOTM until he got Sent Off!

What love?

He has gotten a lot of shit from people, the same ones who time and time again don't show any patience, I mean look at this thread for example - you don't have to go that far back to see some of the comments calling him a liability.

We get this all the time, players need time to settle in until they become confident and comfortable, there's so many examples of this with our players and for the life of me I don't understand why people dont learn their lessons, baffling.

I've been possibly his biggest defender on here and even the Newcastle game made me think twice. I still think he's a better player than Trippier and have always advocated for him to get a consistent run of games. If you gave him like 5 consistent games I think he would calm down and show his class like he did in this game.

I was hoping for the 50m Real Madrid link to be true. Would have made so much sense with our other options. Good money that could have financed de Jong or Ndombele

think part of the reason is many of us want KWP to be given a chance to be one of our two RBs....think it was a mistake/ unfortunate chain of events that saw Aurier being bought in the first place
Meritocracy. If KWP was good enough he would be playing. That's not a very good excuse for the hate that Serge has received. For Sonny (who was good but had 'Sonny' moments) it was give him a year to bed in. For most players it was the same. Last year for Dele it was "he is only young, give him 4 years".

Serge still has a ways to go but if he plays consistently the way he did at Inter then he will be fine. KWP needs to stay off the ground when plays.

What I am fairly confident of is the fact that had Serge been shit vs Inter he would have been picked apart and people in their 'shell shocked' state would have been able to conjure up the will to spew their vitriol his way. I'm with @Shadydan on this one. I am not a witness to all this 'Serge-love' of which you speak. But if it is there then fair play.

Could be right but I don’t see nearly as much vitriol for him compared to Sissoko or going back, JJ

Even dare I say it, Walker got more stick and was one of the first names on our team sheet for years!

Just seems to me there is plenty of support for Serge even though obviously there is also plenty of 'noise’ too

that's probably accurate....and my take on Serge would be different if we had (a) lots of money (b) didn't have KWP.....having the England right back, a top youth English fullback and HG + a potentially v good int fullback is one too many for a club with our resources. And the logical one to ease out, if we can get some good cash is Serge....

Trippier is the most overrated right back since Allen Hutton.

I really don't want to destroy Trippier because he's maximised what he has.

Aurier by far imo is a better defender. Not as good going forward as Trippier but not bad himself.

Another solid match, getting the hang of it this RB thing now.

Detractors quiet as per usual, tempted to quote those posts which unfairly criticised him and cause a meltdown on the forum :sneaky:

Just proving us believers right recently.

Do remember the quotes he had in the preseason about how important it was for him that he was able to have a proper preseason this year.

Would still prefer KWP given more chances and I stand by that.

It is good to see Aurier improving though as Trippier is too shaken defence-wise.

Hopefully ManU gets desperate and offers a good sum for Tripps in January.

Alas unfortunately they have that promising Portuguese right back and Valencia - what made you specifically nam Man U, were they interested in summer and I missed it?

What happened tonight - just saw him heading off down the tunnel on my perfectly legal, legitimate stream?

No, just thinking it would likely have to be an English team and they are the kings of stupid transfer fees. Valencia is so old and that kid is too young to play every game.

Just a wish really. I mean it could be Leicester, Southampton, Everton, I don't care. I just want the best fee.
