I agree with what you are saying. I’ve said numerous times that Rose is the most improved player I’ve seen at Spurs from where he started out to how he performed at his best pre-injury. But you could tell Rose had it mentally.

His problem (and Rose has said as much) was that nobody had taught him how to be a fullback until Poch got hold of him. We then saw this drastic improvement. It’s not the same with Aurier. He’s been a fullback all his professional career. I don’t think the comparisons are similar at all.

Rose played as a full back briefly under Harry, AVB and had a full season at Sunderland.

Yes. But, as I said, he wasn’t TAUGHT the position until Poch came in. Aurier has been a fullback all his life. Rose hasn’t.
Of course Rose received coaching in how to play fullback. You think his managers just threw him in there and hoped for the best ?

What I think you are saying is poch has a special ability to give fullbacks insight and he gave a rigorous education to rose. If poch did that for rose he can give that same special insight to aurier...

I don't know what that's meant to mean, clearly he was taught to play as a full back pre Poch, the difference is that his skills were not polished to play at the level he is now.

Have a look for the quotes from Rose.

Anyway, I don’t understand the blind faith that preseason will make him suddenly a proper fullback. I wonder what the record is for a player giving away the most amount of penalties in a season is because he must be up there.

Personally I won’t shed a tear if he goes in the summer and thankfully Poch is ruthless enough to get rid of him if he thinks it’s the best thing to do. He must be losing trust rapidly too.

I know what Rose said and my point still stands.

We'll have to wait and see what Poch does with Aurier, I have a feeling thst he'll stick with him, he's ruthless but at the same time he's stubborn and I thibk he'll probably give him a fair crack seeing as he'll have him in pre season next season.

But what’s he going to teach him in preseason that he hasn’t all season? He would have been working on his positioning and role in team shape all year yet the player doesn’t get it.

He may well give him another year but none of us know what he’s done with him in training since he’s got here. Maybe he’s worked on him all year yet the player doesn’t get it. If that’s the case Poch isn’t going to give it a short preseason to see if he’s going to get better.

I don't know maybe his deficiencies? I asked myself the same question when the club announced that they were handing a new contract to Rose so what do I know...

I think the key here is that none of us have a clue what poch thinks of aurier and that opinion is what counts. Not just in a “poch is the boss” way but also because none of us see aurier every day in training so our reference point is 5% of poch’s. We can only speculate wildly.

I think we all trust that if poch believes he has reached his limit his opportunities will be minimal or he’ll be moved on. If poch believes he can make more progress then he’ll be given more opportunities.

We have no reason not to trust the club and no reason not to hope aurier will come good.

He always seems to be about to dive into a crazy lunge in our box, happens far too often. KWP must be disillusioned he can’t get in ahead of him.

You can't be criticised for something that you "look like you are about to do"

I really want, and I'm trying to like him, but he just keeps making silly, unnecessary errors which cost us valuable points. Poch will probably give him another chance next season to improve.

He frustrates the hell out of me and shows absolutely no intelligence. How many penalties has he given away this season for stupid challenges.

I dont think we have a strong right back, and i hope that Poch recognises this and either give more opportunities to KWP or identifies a stronger option in the transfer market.

Aurier is far too rash and not clinical enough in the final third. Trippier is not athletic enough to perform the role, is weak defensively but has unbelievable delivery going forward. Got to sell one or both in my opinion.

We'll see.

My hope is that he'll be able to learn and improve because, apart from his final ball and the odd rash challenge in the box, I actually don't think he's been as bad as people are making out.

I think both of those can be improved with coaching.

Like I said, let's see though.

Let’s be honest, he’s been fucking shit and is a complete liability whenever he steps onto the pitch. Got that annoying feature of laughing whenever he screws up too.
