I’m willing to eat humble pie next season if he turns into the right back we all want him to. But based on what I’ve seen upto now. I think he will be sold next summer.

At this stage I probably agree with you but, as you say, let’s see what they can do with him.

We have to get better at fullback, whether we integrate a healthy Rose back in the team or Aurier improves in his second season but we are really missing what Rose and Walker used to give us.

The FBs is an area we really need to explore this off-season which is a complete 180 from what we were saying two seasons ago.

I was excited for Serge and thought he was a steal, but he has been a liability more often than not. It must hurt KWP a great deal having to watch someone consistently give our lead away with complete brain farts.

Can he improve? I mean there really is only one way to go at this point.

Would I take a bid? As of right now, yes.

What is really annoying with Serge is that he doesn’t stretch the back line at all, which I thought he would do. We can’t get any of our FBs in space for that matter.

I am not so sure would have to watch it again but I initially though he done everything right and it was just a really soft pen if we hadn't had just scored with a dubious ball out of play goal up the other end he doesn't give it I guarantee
Dubious ball out of play goal? Seriously? If it had gone out of play, possibly. It didn't, so there was nothing 'dubious' about it.

As for Aurier doing 'everything right', when is letting your opponent get goal-side and run unchallenged into the box ever 'doing everything right'? If he had done his job initially there wouldn't have been the possibility of a penalty, however soft it might have been.
What happens when we 'get rid' and the next player that replaces him shows inconsistency like Serge has, you gonna scream for him to be sold as well?
Three words: Kyle Walker-Peters. Inconsistency is acceptable in a young player, especially one as talented as he is.

I had high hopes for Aurier, both as a defender and for his attacking. But the former has been borderline atrocious with bad positioning, lazy recovering of his position, lack of awareness (or concentration) of the movement of his opponent and, last but not least, stupid fucking tackles that give away penalties. Every time he plays he is a disaster waiting to happen. There has been nothing borderline about his attacking; it's just plain atrocious.

I'm all for being patient with a player, and would have liked us to take more time with Janssen, for example. But if Poch can make this bloke into a top quality full back then he's not only a great coach, he's a miracle worker.

Ive been saying all year he's a loose canon with poor discipline. He's a slightly more athletic version of Disco Benny. btw, was it a pen? couldnt tell from the replays I saw but FFS dont give the ref a chance to whistle.

Not disagreeing but what have you seen to make you thinks he's very talented because I must have missed it. Cant cross and can't defend.

Say what you like about developing but I've seen enough of KWP to prefer him ahead of Aurier.
Clearly talented?

What would you say his redeeming features are? Genuinely.
From his first few appearances for us. He was good on the ball, drove forward, showed some good touches and was exciting. He has pace and some flair. There's a talented footballer there.

From what I've seen, the things holding him back is intelligence on and off the ball, a lack of awareness, and inconsistent delivery. He's like Walker early in his career with us.

I think all of those can be improved upon. But no, let's not support our players and see the potential, let's just do our usual slagging off and cast them aside.

I've been firmly in the "he's got the tools, he'll come good" camp, but the way he loses his mind everytime someone remotely close to him enters our box is getting very annoying indeed.

It looked like he was bought to play as a RWB in a 3 CB formation and has struggled ever since we have changed. This doesnt surprise me as he is defensively fragile at times, however as many have said, im happy to give him a pre season and assess fully after that but tripps is first choice for now (y)
Defensively fragile and crap going forward.

If we secure top 4 before our last 1 or 2 games, I’d like to see Poch give KWP some playing time in those last one or two games.

Just stop doing stupid things in the penalty area. FFS. That's about 5 or 6 pens he's gave away now. Saying that I think he'll be better next season.

lol You are totally delusional if you think people would accept the same inconsistencies from KWP, people would be saying the same thing asking why we never purchased an experienced right back

Rose definitely was.

I remember wincing every time an opposition player went near him
around the box. Constantly rash with tackles.

No one really rated him on here either.

Poch improved him so much. This is why I want to give Aurier a chance. He really reminds me of Rose under AVB.

I agree with what you are saying. I’ve said numerous times that Rose is the most improved player I’ve seen at Spurs from where he started out to how he performed at his best pre-injury. But you could tell Rose had it mentally.

His problem (and Rose has said as much) was that nobody had taught him how to be a fullback until Poch got hold of him. We then saw this drastic improvement. It’s not the same with Aurier. He’s been a fullback all his professional career. I don’t think the comparisons are similar at all.

I read somewhere that of the 7 penalties we have conceded in total this season Aurier has been responsible for 4 of them, given the number of games he has played in proportion to the whole season it is a concern and something that both he and the coaching staff need to have a good look at and address, that said I'm not ready to write him off just yet, lets properly judge things after he's had a full pre season with us and see how he's doing this time next year.
