Surprised at some of the comments about Sessengnon. He won Championship player of the season at age 17 and was the third youngest player at the u21 World Cup behind Foden and some random Romanian. Think way too much stock is being put into last season when Fulham truly put in one of the most disgraceful PL campaigns in history. Hard to blame an 18 year old for that.

I suggested in the Max Aarons thread that I would be concerned for a 19 year old who had never player PL or CL to be first choice next season and came in for a little stick. Yet, no one thinks Sess, who is a much bigger prospect, could take Rose’s spot. Odd.

Because Ryan Sessegnon isn't a LB? That's why. Whether he turns into one is neither here nor there.

He's played as many games at left back as he has anywhere else, and he started as a left back.
Transfermarkt has him at 48 games at left back, 42 at left mid which I guess may include fullback and 20 at left wing. He has pretty even goals and assists at each position too

Still a huge ask expecting him to come in and perform at a CL side in that position. We will be weaker in that position for the next couple of seasons if that is the plan, no doubt.

Strange that apparently every man and his dog have accepted that he's coming to Spurs, yet nothing has actually happened. You'd like to think that were it not for his injury, we would have made this happen by now and had him on the pre-season tour. I suspect we've de-prioritised this transfer since that injury and it'll probably be something that happens late on in the window. Alternatively we could go full Grealish and miss out completely.

The odds of us falling short again here shorten by the day, I fear.

Some of my family come from Fulham so i watch a lot of them and i'm quite happy to state that Sessegnon is one of the best prospects i've seen in many a season, and he'll definitely be more of an asset at LB than Rose because he is just a more naturally talented player. He won't tackle as hard but he'll tackle, he'll be proficient in his covering and then he'll have the added bonus of actually doing something decent at the other end of the pitch - he'll score goals and get plenty of assists 'cos he can actually pick out a man.

In fact i'd be surprised if he isn't on the shortlist for Young Player of The Year at the end of the season, he's that good imo and, having been a season ticket holder throughout the rise of Bale, this lad is the closest thing i've seen to him since then - he'll be a monster of a player for us.

Difference being he wont sign a new contract and this current deal is up next year so Fulham would only get a tribunal fee for him.

Yep, absolutely no reason to think this transfer will end up like Grealish other than being ridiculously pessimistic. There is every reason to draw this transfer out because we hold all the cards due to his contract -as you suggest - and he's injured. The deal can be done swiftly, given who represents him and the fact Spurs and Fulham have done loads of business together. Unless Davies gets injured on tour,he'll be starting at left back anyway so other transfers surely taking priority.

I did say a while back that given Scott Parker was now their manager, it wouldn't be a surprise to see us loan them a player or two - although i would imagine it'd have to be a very decent player as they have a fairly full squad and a decent academy. So agree, CCV would be fairly logical wouldn't he.

21 done well wherever he's been, full international. Marcus is off to brentford and josh off to germany. Ccv seem the one nobody is talking about when you'd think clubs would be clamouring to sign him.

I would like to see Edwards go to Fulham as part of the deal if they would like a player from us. Especially if he's not part of Poch's plans

Think it's the kind of club which and football style that he could thrive in.

Would definately insist on a buy back or first option too, if it could be worked in. Such a huge talent.

Training with brentford. They look like they will sign him.

They probably want skipp I expect Parker would enjoy working with him and he would be decent for them they play good football and be interesting to see how he gets on in the championship

Good shout. Be good for Skipp and Fulham but not sure Poch would sanction that, seemed to want him around the first team squad and wasn't afraid to use him. Personally i thought Skipp would play a bigger role this season, although it is hard to see just how much of a role he can play unless injuries hit us hard again.

Sessegnon in PL last season got 2 goals & 6 assists, playing further forward on occasion in a relegation team. There is no question here about his talent. Question seems to be on whether he can be a LB.

But then perspective is important too. Fulham's shit defending and lack of leadership on & off the pitch seems to be contributing to the assessment on Sessegnon as a Left Back. Fulham came through play of route in championship, mainly down to Sessegnon 16 goals. They had total disregard for defending & it caught up with them in PL.

Sessegnon IMO, has to develop physically. He isnt hopeless at LB. Often got let down by other defenders playing alongside him.

I really believe he will do well, even in LB with experienced pros around him like Vertonghen.

Rose was not a LB. While he got converted to LB at Sunderland, he didn't improve defensively till Poch took him under the wing. I still remember the anger directed at Rose when he got the 5 year deal in Poch first season. But by end of the same season, he proved Poch right.

If Poch feels Sessegnon can play LB, then lets trust him on this one.

Skipp seems to possibly be a part of pochs plans. We'll see though. You might be right.
