I don't mind stats but I prefer the eye test.
With your eyes have you seen anything that's truly impressed you about the boy?

Behave.

Like you've watched more than the odd game of Fulhams and some MOTD highlights....

:ROFLMAO: true that mate, I haven't been extensively scouting this dude, just whenever I've seen him he's looked subpar. You got me though, sample size ain't massive :ROFLMAO:

I feel as he must be being signed as an attacking option. Of his 26 starts in the league this season, only 3 were at LB.
He will get more attacking touches as a left back for us than a winger for Fulham. Fulham couldn't defend with defensive full backs, never mind this fella. Totally different game at a big club.

I don't recall if HOTSPUR RELATED are accurate or not. But that bit about using him as a left winger and then eventually converting him to a left back seems awfully specific.
Hotspur Related gets news and gossip from all over and shares (with the original source in the tweet). Don't take anything for certain, but if you are on twitter I recommend following as it keeps all news in one place.

Hotspur Related also twists things said in articles to make them seem a lot more interesting/exciting than they actually are, unfortunately.

Sign the lad up. He is exactly the sort of signing you would expect us to make (in a good way).

I had a look on a Fulham forum and they have quite mixed views on him. Some think he's great and deserves way more time given his age and goalscoring record, others think he was found out in the PL. I thought this post was a good, balanced summary:

"The extreme positivity and extreme negativity around Ryan Sessegnon is insane. He is probably not going to be as good as Ashley Cole, Raheem Steeling or Gareth Bale, but I think it’s likely that he will be significantly better than Ryan Bertrand, Danny Rose, Ashley Young and Stewart Dowling.

He is a good buy for a Champions League team looking for a good squad player for the next 12-15 years. I don’t think £30m buys much these days, and if Ryan Sessegnon would be worth more than that on a five year contract especiallly if that team felt he might extend his contract until 30+ years old."

Thing is, even Gareth Bale didnt think Gareth Bale was ever going to be as good as Gareth Bale...

I think it's a situation not dissimilar to if Dele had stayed at MK Dons the season after their promotion. Everyone rated Dele for what he'd done in getting MK Dons promoted. But the next season up in the championship they were poor. If we'd either not bought him or loaned him back I'd reckon Dele would have a dropoff in performance too.

Sess lit up the championship the same way Dele did league 1. Sess didn't come to us as we all know the next season and was in a shambles of a team in a far more competitive league. It's no surprise he wouldn't be as effective as in the championship even if Fulham had been semi competent but going through the playover turnover they did and manager turnover they did it's going to impact any player's performance, especially a young player.

I still rate him as being total mustard and a player who in the environment at spurs could really flourish in a few positions.

Ok so the domestic transfer window has now opened. Let's get this one done nice and early.

I did and I said so at the time. I don't know how good Sessignon will be yet but he will be good and I am very much hoping we get this done soon.

Overpriced at the moment. Don’t think he’s a 25m player. Not really that interested to be honest.

I don't agree he's overpriced at 25M, as we need to get up to speed with current market rates. If Dominic Solanke, with only 1 senior goal for Liverpool can be sold for £17M, then Sessegnon - younger but with more senior experience - is surely worth 25M at today's rates. That's what you pay for potential these days, especially ones that are homegrown

One stupid transfer fee shouldn't justify other transfer fees.

Although I would say 25 for Sess is probably reasonable (not convinced I would do it) as you could likely get most of that back for him in a year or two if it doesn't work out.

I'm very for this signing, but he did manage to get himself lumbered in the most ineffective XI of the season...

Really missed us signing the up the young up and coming English lads, we have had a fair amount of success doing that too which is even more surprising that we stopped doing it in the last few years

I think people are forgetting he is only 18.... has a year left on his contract even if it’s say 20/25m and in 3 years it’s still not worked out you would probably get that back!

Looks like we are obviously signing him. He will learn well and become sick.
