I thought he did fine - a little nervous at the start, but settled in nicely. Was not in to make spectacular passes, and never tried to do too much. And kept his positioning defensively, for the most part.

Thought he did well slightly out of position. As I understand it he is known for his passing vision and I think a less congested game where he wasn't required to be as disciplined would have suited him better.

I think the best thing you can is that you wouldn't have noticed that an 18 year old kid was making his full debut in the centre of midfield against a very defensive and hardworking unit.

So excited to see this lad develop. Extremely mature performances at every level so far and again today.

Not killing the kid or his future as a player or anything but he isn't ready yet.

Ready for what? We are easing him into the squad and giving him experience partly due to injuries. Nobody is expecting him to be first name on the team sheet he's 18. He was perfectly ready for today.

Ready to start games in the premier league. I've said several times now I'm not slating the kid as he's just 18. Just talking more towards the supporters who ask him to start games all the time and that we don't need to replace Dembele cause we have Skipp.

Thats all I'm saying.

Fair enough. But he'll only become ready by being given minutes.

Not unless we buy a cm or two. We can't rely on wanyama or dembele. Think he'll be getting some game time in the next two months.
I'm always down for replacing those 2... and is always the case in scenarios in my head. Levys head unfortunately may be a whole other issue.

Solid enough debut, he lost the ball too frequently in the first 20mins but I suspect that's down to nerves. He didn't hide and was always looking for the ball, which is encouraging. If he keeps himself grounded and works hard then I don't see why he couldn't be a viable back-up and pick up the all valuable minutes in cup competitions.

didnt do much today and didnt fuck anything up either - probably the way it should be for an 18 year old. but if Poch has that much confidence in him that bodes well.

Good debut for an 18 year old - unspectacular in nature but the way Burnley played caused that - the negative ****s. First 20 mins I thought he seemed to hide and not provide an option for the defence - doing the "Dier point" more often than not, but as the game wore on he got more confident and he should be very proud of his achievement. Just hope he gets more opportunities as it's the only way he will keep improving.

Cool. Poch always backs his players no matter what like a good manager should.
Shouldn't we as fans also support our players????
Not picking an argument with you personally but so many "Supporters" on here seem to only see the negative in players instead of looking for the positive.

I root for all of them to do their best but I don't see anything wrong with constructive criticism. It's not like I'm at the games yelling at the kid. After all this is a forum for discussion. Gets a little boring if all we do is sing praises of everyone.

Tidy but not outstanding. Wanted the ball which was a positive, but didn’t create any real danger or openings with it though.

Scored 7.02 on whoscored, only behind toby, Davies and eriksen. I thought he was good but not spectacular. It's hard to really shine from that position though, he kept the ball moving nicely and offered himself around the pitch well.

Didnt look out of place which is good for an 18 year old on his debut albeit against a team willing to sit in their 18 yard box

I'm fine with that and as I said not picking an argument with you. Just that some people always seem to pick the negative to emphasis and ignore anything positive the players does.

That’s a slightly different issue, no player we have truly replaces the Dembele of old and if Dembele and maybe Wanyama are out the door come end of season we will probably need to get a top class midfielder in.

However a player like Skipp getting minutes adds extra depth to a position which needs it.

He did ok. The majority of it was pretty safe passes. The one thing I did notice was a bit of a reluctance from our CB to give him the ball which I guess you can understand. This can be seen in that he only made 54 passes. When Dier or winks play there in a home game it’s about 80 or 90. This meant in 1st half we were going long a lot. This totally changed when eriksen came on. Sissoko pushed up and eriksen took control of CM. Therefore I’m not really sure how to judge him as they basically by passed him a lot. It was a competent performance though and I’ll stick to what I’ve previously said about him that I’m 50/50 if he will make it with us.
