He was a different type of Sissoko for the third, though.

Well I'd say picking it up and bombing forward and making a 10 yard pass is exactly where I see Sissokos strengths, I'd say it's threaded through balls he's not great at but bombing forward and passing to our more creative players is exactly what I'd expect to see from him.

The problem is, against teams that sit back at home, in the diamond formation, he ends up being our advanced playmaker, or at least one of them.

The opposition just mark everyone else and let him have the ball and say go on then, pick a lass. He’s great when counterattacking as long as he makes the right decision at the end of it, but he isn’t the answer in midfield when we need to create.

I'll go for the fatty with daddy issues.

His shooting really is appalling and highlights the difference between him and Ndombele.

For all his strengths I do still ask myself how a premier league and France international level of footballer who trains nearly every day could have such hideous technique when striking a football. I've genuinely seen better strikers of a football at Sunday league level.

Luckily he negates this shortcoming by being the footballing equivalent of a freight train.

He works hard and doesn’t give up but I think he will be the first casualty of the new midfielders coming into the side.

Sissoko is far more influential when playing in the middle of the pitch. I find he struggles when he’s asked to go out wide or to push further forward such as on the right of the diamond. His strengths are breaking up play, eliminating a player and releasing the ball.

He looked far better when Winks went off and there was Eriksen to release the ball to. I believe the same would have been said of Winks. A three of Sissoko, Ndombele and Winks against teams sitting back isn’t the best choice in my opinion. All three were just passing to eachother who would then pass back to a CB who would pass back to them. Repeat.

Also. He literally is the worst player I’ve ever seen at shooting - still love him though.

I'd imagine he'll be mostly used off the bench this season once Lo Celso gets up to speed. Sissoko running at tired opponents could be a frightening prospect. It remains to be seen whether he can keep his form up if he doesn't get the regular starts though.

He has his peccadillos, like not being unable to hit a barn door etc....but he is just wonderful when he picks that bar of soap in midfield a drives forward.

Yup you just have accept he’s not the best technically but what he offers in driving runs and work rare compensate. It’s ok if you have players like Son Dele Lo Celso on pitch as well as it balances out. Yesterday with lamela and Moura not rely firing it exposed him more. Still a fantastic option and squad member.

I think his shooting is down to confidence. He could do it at Newcastle.

It's almost carbon-copy of trough Soldado - it's almost like he's so insecure about shooting that one half of his brain says "you can score" and the other half of his brain says "just pass it to someone" and he ends up doing neither.

Winks is pretty awful at shooting too, but his game doesn't really need it as much as Sissoko's does, so I don't think it stands about so much.

3rd goal when he brought the ball down and drove forward was great to see.

Yep

Your not going to see the best MS against a team parking the bus and with 70% possession. Power player.

Still done decent yesterday mind. Anyone expecting delicate passing opening teams up just lol - find another sport.

Yeah, basically you don’t want him near the oppositions penalty area otherwise it all starts to fall apart :D.
