I fully expect to see Winks and Skipp starting
before long.
Absolutely no chance. Maybe in a few seasons. If you somehow think Skipp is edging out Sissoko anytime soon that’s fantasy.

Sissoko has been an ever present all season and we are 2nd. Skipp played about 60 minutes of senior football. Give me a break.

😂😂

Dier has been okay but picked up his form before he got injured. He deserved a hell of a lot more respect than being labelled a finger pointer seeing as he was involved with England in the World Cup, there's bound to be some mental and physical fatigue.

Winks does more than move the ball sideways ala Tom Carroll, Poch knows the sort of potential he has if he didn't he would have moved him on like he did with Carroll.

It just really annoys me that our own fans criticise our players unjustly and don't show any appreciation for them, we had it with Dembele the other day. Just because another player is playing well in that position it doesn't render those who were playing before useless.
I wouldn’t say Dier has picked up his form. Struggle to remember a string of good performances from him this season. He hasn’t been useless, not sure where you get that from, but he’s been a bit meh. I don’t think he is a part of our best 11 any more. He definitely is a pointer and he is a bit slow and lethargic in CM
Nowadays.

I hope he goes back to Dier of 2016.

It's a squad game.
it's called rotation
horses for courses.
No-one's edging anyone out.

Winks and Skipp
might come
sooner that you think

When we have had Dier basically pointing and jogging around the pitch for 12 months and Winks largely getting praise for passing sideways and keeping the ball, I find it a bit ridiculous that people like you on here seem quite blind to Sissokos impact on the team.

He is actually tackling and winning the ball defensively, a lot more regularly than what Dier was doing, but he is also creating goals for the side too. His powerful bursting runs forward with the ball playing one twos is actually directing contributing to goals we have scored. He just isn’t putting in average performances which is what you are saying so sorry, you are wrong.
You are wrong, one by faulty ability to debate and two by facts.

To start with the faulty rhetorics, the fact that you disagree with other user's praise of players who are not relevant to this thread does not strip me of the right to comment on this specific player that this thread in fact is about.

Now, I didn't want to compare Dier and Sissoko but since you brought it up, lets actually look at facts. Dier has statistically carried out in quantity more successful defensive actions in PL this season than Sissoko. Dier has also a larger attacking contribution than what it seems that you are giving him credit for. I'm not Dier's biggest fan, but just like Sissoko, I think both of them are, at the present level, fairly acceptable players who are more or less of adequate usefulness to the team. It is simply incorrect to announce than one of them is standing out and the other is disappointing, when both are fairly OK, but nothing more and nothing less.

Well of course, Dier is a defensive midfielder, Sissoko plays a box to box role. I'd be worried if Dier's defensive stats were not slightly better.

You called him a finger pointer, that's where it comes from - you obviously don't rate him but you've gone to such an extreme to evaluate him - not sure why?

And Dier was picking up form before he got injured, put in some good performances against Chelsea, Leicester and Southampton.

He hasn’t been terrible for two years mate. Yes he has had moments with air kicks and the like but I don’t think you could argue he didn’t put a shift in. Seriously that is the kind of fucking lazy narrative that passes for creative comment on here.

That’s a typical sycophantic fan on the bandwagon comment to please the hive mind on SC. Everyone says Sissoko is useless therefore he must be useless. Like those ****s that dissed Lamela for three years and the rest of us had to keep reading that cock every frickin day way past it’s use by date.

Get some objectivity and perspective and stop following the other fucking lemmings on here.

Haha what. Of course its my opinion, what an odd thing to say just because it doesn't fit with your narrative.

He was awful, for me, full stop. "Put a shift in"...not one of those that also loved Soldado because he 'ran around bit' are you?

Perhaps you could jump down off that horse and put a case together to change my mind, tell me 10 games in the previous 2yrs where he was better than bang average for example. If you can't then I'm either right or your're just another one of those cheesestrings that can't put a debate together so just berates the poster with dribble and no substance.

I agree; right now this is him putting a shift in and doing the basics. Before he was barely tracking pack and working hard.

Winks and Skipp is unlikely. That would be the lightest midfield pairing in history.

Correct but it's massively improving. Also his break up of play is becoming his strongest asset which is what we need. Its why he is fitting well this season
Actually thought he was poor at the weekend, passing wasn't great despite being very safe, touch let him down more than once and he didn't do an awful lot defensively IMO (0 tackles / interceptions).

I know he's favour of the month and all but I do think people have a kind of reverse bias for him after being so hard on him, didn't think he was great against Bournemouth either (better than the Wolves performance though tbf). I actually found the volume of people talking him up for being player of the season so far quite staggering.

Has shown us pretty recently just how good he can be, but for me he's been slipping a little...although to be fair, we do need more options in there currently.

He's been in fantastic form and fully deserved to start, but maybe Poch needs to start realising that often it's a case of horses for courses. Playing Sissoko in the heart of midfield against a team that were always going to press high was a poor decision. He panics under pressure and isn't technically gifted enough to operate in a limited space.

Still, he should absolutely play against Southampton, who I would think will certainly sit back more than Arsenal.
There wasn't anyone else to put in.

I agree with you. But most the team was poor second half against Wolves.

Everton was his best game since Inter, both of which he was excellent in. The rest he has been average to above average as i have mentioned in here before. However that is still a huge improvement on the last two seasons. (y)

wtf

Re-watch pretty much any match in the period when he turned his form around, specifically the Barcelona and Chelsea matches

The fact that you mentioned the Inter match was one of his best when he performed better in the Nou Camp suggests you're not watching him play, embarrassing stuff.

Oh dear. I said it was his best match since Inter. Chelsea was before Inter. Oh and his rating for Barca was 6.68 and for Everton 7.64.

Also I said he has turned it around this season so not sure where you are going back to

I would suggest you are not only not watching Sissoko, but not even watching spurs.

Carry on pal (y)

Where you getting your ratings from?

You said his displays were average to above average, I suggest you watch the Barca game again.

I think Sissoko been pretty poor the last two games tbh.

Very good Vs Everton before though
Agree but he's probably been our most consistent performer this season, without him covering back, breaking up play and pushing us forward we'd probably be in quite a mess, no surprise we lost when he had an off day, turned into a vitally important player for us.
