I agree but we also need to sell two more foreign players just to be able to register all the players we have. I can't see us making a non-UK signing unless Vorm, N'Koudou and Janssen also go this window.
That's true, and there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to offload our deadwood. Our deadwood can be useful players at other clubs. It's no excuse. Levy has to get it right this Jan.

Absolutely unplayable on his day but unfortunately his days have become fewer and fewer over the last couple of years.

The midfield version of Ledley, an absolute Rolls Royce of a player that had his career hampered by injuries but will forever be appreciated by us and his team mates.

I think it is a good move regardless of who we do or don't sign. Love Dembele for what he has done at Spurs but, even if he got back to being able to play, I think he has loss to much mobility to play in our current preferred system. His strengths are winning the ball, holding the ball and driving forward off the dribble. This combination does not necessarily fit very well when playing a diamond in the middle with two up top unless you have the mobility to play one of the sides of the diamond as Sissoko has been so effective in doing. With this current group, he would be competing with Eriksen for playing time and Eriksen wins that battle every time at this stage of their careers.

Good luck going forward and thanks for all of the great memories over the last few years.

Be interesting to know how much we could have got for him in the summer.

The player himself said he can’t handle the physicality of the Prem anymore.

We need to sell before we can buy.

His contract is running short.

So why people are against us selling is beyond me.

The more players we can sell who have no future at the club now m and the easier it is to bring in players we do want in this window or the next.

A complete no-brainer for me though part of me will miss him.

Criminal if he does actually go and he's not replaced.
Skipp is his replacement
In truth, I get the feeling Sissoko is now his 'ready made' replacement. Whilst he isn't quite in the same league as a fully fit Mousa Dembele - very few are and Dembele himself hasn't quite been right for some time now.

Jan - May is going to be a real challenge for us!

Wish him all the best. Class player, thanks for the memories.

Hope our lack of CM depth doesn't come back to bite us.

If Mousa Dembele was fully fit now would you keep him for the important CL and PL games and improve our chances of success, or would you flog him for the £9M.
No Daniel not you.....we know what you would do!!!

It will be down to the player and whether he thinks he must move now to get his last big deal or whether he thinks he can benefit more from being a free agent in the summer. Of course the Chinese league starts in March, so they will be prepared to spend big now, in January, not in June.

Guoan correspondent dismissed this story. Untrue.

I have seen this in the chinese internet. The beijing jounalists and itks deny the story. Also their general manager denies the story as well in an inerview

Apperantly, however, some beijing fans say that the club said the same thing before they signed Jonathan Viera

Six months ago I never would have thought I'd say this but with the form Sissoko has shown, he has staked a legitimate claim to being the "Dembele replacement," at the very least until the end of the season.

If we were to make one signing this window, I'd personally prefer that it be a Wanyama replacement. We cannot count on his fitness at all, and we need two reliable DMs in the squad. As it currently stands we're one Dier injury (or illness as it were) away from being very lightweight in midfield, and DM is probably the most injury-prone position in football.

We've already paid for this weakness once in the Wolves match, and if we genuinely have ambitions to compete at the top of the league and in the CL for the rest of the season then it needs to be addressed now IMO.

Wouldn't get carried away about Sissoko replacing Dembele, he just isn't as good a passer and I don't think ever will be.

We're crying out for a Carrick Mk.2 IMO.

I prefer Sissoko to be replacing Wanyama as defensively he's solid and thus limiting his weaker attributes such as passing, assists and goals.
