Sad times, One of my favorite players to watch.

Shame we never got to see more of him & wanyama together again.

Skipp is his replacement

Just a little bit optimistic don’t you think? Dembele is one of the best CMs in the league when fit, his time has passed as his fitness has declined but this trend among some Spurs fans to replace top international players with academy kids is just bizarre.

Skipp is just not a replacement for Dembele. Skipp has shown very very little to even suggest that. Promising potential for sure but we are going to slide down the table if we start playing a CM of Winks and Skipp as a first choice CM. We will get absolutely battered by the top sides.

Skipp was completely overrun against bloody Tranmere last week in the first half. Second half he improved but he is miles away from being a replacement. We need to go out and sign a proper replacement. There isn’t a debate about that.

Chelsea not letting Fabregas leave until they've signed either Barella or Paredes as a replacement. Or both, if you believe Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, in North London....

Truly sensational player on his day. Will always remember his time fondly, a beautiful player to watch play the game.

If only he could score goals and know when to release the ball. AS you say sensational at what he does best but strangely limited at the same time.

Hi best individual performances for us in the last few years (e.g. against Goons last season) were up there as the best MF performances I have ever seen.

Will be missed

Shame that his condition means that he can't/couldn't be relied upon more often and sad to se him go. He's been an outstanding player for us and watching him bully the opposition was always a joy. He certainly gave us more solidity and allowed us to get a stranglehold of many games.

Having said that I will always look back on his time with a sense of 'what might have been?" and I do think Sissoko is better for us in some ways. He moves the ball much faster in the transition, which means we attack faster as opposed to Dembele who would generally move slower and preferred a shorter pass. Secondly most of Dembele's 'powering past opponents' happened in the middle of the field and I would like to have seen way more of that in the final third as he certainly had the ability to do it. Whereas when Sissoko does it it opens the play up and is higher up the field. Of course technically and possession wise Dembele is far superior and we had some enjoyable performances from him too. I wish him all the best.

£11m. I wonder how much of that would we get by the time we pay him a loyalty bonus etc?

*Edit - it would certainly be the final 6 months of his contract at least.

His performance against Juventus away last year was immense. A formidable player when on top form and fully fit.

He would had been a great asset to have in the second half of the season competing on 4 fronts.

Should have kept him and allowed him to leave on a free.

I know many will say £11m now is better than nothing in the summer, but that’s peanuts in the modern game and him staying could have proved vital in winning a trophy this season.

The only thing smoother and more powerful than a Mousa Dembele spin and shuffle is the flush mechanism installed in the corporate box private toilets.

I may be making assumptions - but I don't think @luptic was saying that Skipp is a worthy replacement for Dembele quality-wise. I believe they're saying that we won't be signing a replacement and instead we'll be told one of the academy prospects will fill the void.

We’re not going to replace him this window.

Or ever.

We STILL haven't replaced Dalmat, as if we're going to replace Dembele.

Sad to see it end like this, being injured and leaving mid season. Surprised to see him leaving mid-season considering we are still in 4 competitions.
