Sure, I'm not disagreeing with what you necessarily say about free speech more with the verdict that Lucas is a fascist sympathiser. He's not and I wish people would take the time to actually consider what he is actually saying (lots of people seem to understand Brazilian Portuguese all of a sudden) - he simply wants a safer and less crime-ridden country and knows that the options available are severely limited.

By the way - in Brazilian media they aren't even referring to Bolsonaro as a fascist. Therefore, if Lucas is relying on the Brazilian news to form his opinions and the message that resonates with him is "I will enforce zero tolerance on crime" because of his life experiences and the country's rotten climate, then who are we to judge him and rip him to shreds?!

People need to have a bit of consideration for the ENTIRE picture before judging him and claiming that he is racist, sexist and homophobic. Considering that he hasn't made any comments on these things, and simply honed in on the crime aspect I'd take a pretty big wager on him not being any of these things. But this is the internet, we jump to conclusions about what people are and what they say instead of asking a bit of time and research to understand where it has come from and what is truly being said.

Until he displays any of these vile characteristics he will have my entire support whilst at the club, especially considering what I've been told (very humble and respectful person) about him by someone who knows him.

No one has said Lucas is any of those things but he has endorsed someone who is and that isn’t a good look for him or the club. Not to mention how dangerous it is someone with almost 3 million followers to promote these views, as it validates them, whether it’s through ignorance or malice.

Alternatively, Lucas should have looked at the entire picture before endorsing someone of Bolsonaro's character.

One thing that's really tough for me to reconcile is his support for such a hateful politician when faith appears to be so central to his life. I'd hope he'd take better lessons from religion than the ones Bolsonaro seems to be offering.

Who said that?
So you now actively want the club to sell a player because of his political views?

Yes, if a player has a one or a few specific views that I find abhorrent and is using his platform to promote them. If a player is openly pro-fascist, sexist, homophobe, racist and/or thinks the Star Wars prequels are good movies I want them gone.

It's not as cut and dry as that. See my posts yesterday on why it isn't so straightforward.

Yeah thought that strange (spam rating) might just be fat finger syndrome. I too think Moura coukd get to those figures you suggested in goals/assists. He and Son can take some pressure off Kane this season.

Only at Spurs could a player-of-the-month, newfound revelation put himself in life's crosshairs apropos of absolutely nothing.

(sigh)

This is why we can never have nice things...

People moan that players are like robots nowadays, yet when they say what they are thinking this is what happens(at all clubs).

What he believes or does not believe is his perogitive, as long as he doesn't bring it into work, I couldn't give a monkey's. If the stuff he says does have an adverse affect in the dressing room or affects his play then it's a problem.

So we’ve got a neo fascist, a drunk driver, a homophobe, someone who falls over a lot and does silly handshakes a player who mouths off to the Sun and a guy who wears golden boots to celebrate himself. And a manager who dresses like Johnny Cash.

Are we becoming one of those bastard clubs (who usually win everything)? :p

Everyone’s acting like he just said he’s a Tory or something and we’re flipping out.

Lucas, through ignorance it seems, has basically endorsed a man who literally thinks men are superior to women, gay people should have been beaten as children, the Brazilian military dictatorship of the 60s didn’t kill enough people and has suggested poor people should be sterilised, to his 3mill odd followers. That’s fucking dangerous. Bolsonaro has even said that there’s “no doubts” that on his first day in office he would create a military dictatorship.

How is pointing out that maybe, just maybe, Lucas shouldn’t have done that or should retract his statement, saying he wasn’t educated enough “virtue signalling”?

“At least I’m not seeing the same old proposals”

That kind of idea is what Bolsonaro is thriving off, that is his campaign and so spreading it is endorsement of it as an idea. Lucas also defended him and said if he was racist then he’d be in jail.

That along with not pointing out Bolsonaro’s horrific views is a giant advert to Lucas’s 3m followers of why they should vote for Bolsonaro, whether intentional or not on Lucas’s part, it’s an endorsement and millions will take it as so.

Yes, because all three million of Lucas's followers are Brazilian, and many of them place themselves politically based off what he says on Twitter.
