hertyid: I will guarantee you, no player will leave unless we want to move them on.

Bale had outgrown us. Not a single player is too good for Tottenham right now, mainly due to how good we are as a team right now. They're at a club with one of the best stadiums in the world on the horizon and a team who are good enough to win the league. If Dele was to have a couple more seasons where he smashed 20 PL goals a season and we don't win the league id worry about him leaving. Right now I don't understand why anyone is even worried.

His agent is doing what he is there to do, take interest from a number of clubs willing to pay £100k a week on top of what he's already being paid and either engineer a move away (signing on bonuses for both agent and player) or a new contract from his current employers.

I for one am not sitting here thinking the end is nigh, but I do think it's entirely possible they could be advised to move.

Is kind of my point. You cant keep giving new contracts to players every year because you're scared they'll leave. It's like constantly throwing money at that hot girlfriend because you're scared she'll leave you.

They get good money here on top of everything else we have going for us at the moment. If Barca etc come calling it's irrelevant how much we pay anyway. If they want to go to the likes of Man U lower down the league just to get more money then quite frankly, fuck them if they don't want to be a part of what we have going on.

You should give them new contracts to reward them. Shouldn't ideally be driven by fear, I agree.

"Lower down the league". Man U and City are 7 and 8 pts below us respectively. If they win their games in hand, they're 3rd and 4th and in champions league. Going to throw hundreds of millions at their teams again this summer, with seasoned European managers. It's not like it's Crystal Palace.

But I agree, I'm entirely unemotional on it. As I said at the very top, I don't think he'll go anywhere, I think it's posturing by an agent at best. But the idea that it's horseshit because Spurs operate on some divine plane where general footballing rules don't apply seems far fetched,

Looks like it's walker's turn now then. We've had Lloris, Rose, Dier, Toby, dele, Kane all leaving in recent weeks so it was about time they'd come back to making up stories about Walker.

Next week it will be Vertonghen or Dembele.

Cold hard facts is that we will have a better stadium and training facilities (maybe not City) than those two clubs and are in London (not shitty Manchester).

Next year we will play at Wembley and I reckon we will have the highest attendances in the whole of the country - c 80k every week.

This club needs good players not transfer fees and the corporate £ will follow and I suspect Levy knows this.

The last step for this club is trophies.

I reckon those sell out crowds in the CL and EL opened a few eyes to the potential of this club.

City not in the same ball park - didn't even sell out yesterday.

There will be some serious players looking at Spurs imo

Walker's been great this season but Trippier just produces so many more quality chances for our attack when he plays.

Walker's pace will be a greater asset next season, and beyond, when we start playing on the bigger pitch.

Bigger pitch won't make him a better crosser.

While Walker is fucking about putting his foot on the ball at the byline, Trippier is crossing early from deep.

Quite honestly I think it's important to pay bigger wages now to our players, particularly Toby. We're moving in to the new stadium soon and we're growing as a brand so I honestly don't see why we can't, especially if we can stop buying dross like Sissoko and use more youth players to fill out the squad.

It might be a smart move to limit transfer fees and use more money on player wages instead to keep players as they develop. Most of our best players were bought for under £15m so with the right scouting then we can continue to have success from doing this.

It's more important to keep this squad together at the moment than it is to keep the wage bill tight, especially when we can safely say our revenue will likely continue to rise over the next year or so with Champions League football and stadium revenue. I know we can't let it get out of control but surely there is room for flexibility, otherwise players may start to demand moves.

but isn't this exactly what happened last summer and into this season? It was telegraphed by the leadership and almost every one has had significant playing time this season has signed a new deal. Once Toby does the only outstanding questions are around Lamela. Am assuming Dele is on the Kane contract train and will see another deal very soon!

Bound to be stories as our players are wanted by many teams. My only fear is that failing to win anything will make hungry players likely to go to clubs who do win trophies

Players are not going anywhere domestically "to win trophies"

If the squad is kept, Spurs have a better chance of winning trophies than any other team over the next few years.

Now, if you had said players are going to clubs to make more money...then I think you are on to something. Trophies, or competing for a title - no.

They would have to make him the most expensive fullback ever, probably by a significant amount, for us to entertain selling. Not really Bayern's typical M.O.

Really?! You honestly think Spurs are more likely to win trophies than any other domestic club over the next few seasons?

I must've read that wrong that can't possibly be what you meant? Apologies if I've misinterpreted.
