Nothing against Foyth at all but I'm a bit frustrated that it appears he's being lined up as Trippier's replacement for this season. It's all well and good for him to be a makeshift option when injuries force our hand -- he's acquitted himself perfectly well at RB -- but it should not be his permanent position IMO.

Foyth is not a prototypical modern wingback with the dynamism to bomb up and down the flank, and unless Poch is adapting his tactics then what we need is that prototypical wingback. Aurier is the only player who fits the bill, but he hasn't gone a month without picking up a muscle injury in ages. Failing to replace Trippier with a new signing would virtually guarantee that we play the majority of our matches without an ideal wingback on the right side, and with Rose seemingly on his way out as well we'd be leaving ourselves with a pretty glaring weakness yet again.

Dier can do a job there also as can KWP - we will be fine. For the record I think Foyth will make a very good right back.

KWP appeared ready made to succeed Trippier/Aurier however the fact that Foyth played in front of him when both Trippier and Aurier were unfit makes me think Pochettino may not trust him fully (yet).

KWP is now 22 and as such would be taking up one of the 25 squad places , whereas the was a "free" addition last season. So I guess Pochettino will have to decide whether or not to sacrifice one of the 25 places, though he helps fulfil the "8 homegrown" quota.

With KWP being the only fit right back on tour he’s got the chance to make the position his own. Mind you, he’s had good performances in the past and it hasn’t convinced Poch so who knows.

I honestly don't think Dier can do a job at right back anymore. He's lost an awful lot of pace since the last time he played fullback with any regularity.

If we go into the season Foyth, KWP, and a crocked Aurier on the right and Davies and a teenager who hasn't played the position in two years on the left as our fullback options then I don't think we'd realistically be competing with City and Liverpool. That would be understandable as closing the gap entirely in the space of one transfer window was probably always unrealistic, but I think in that scenario it'd be fair to put fullback down as a problem area.

Trippier wasn’t good enough and cost us a lot last season! However you sell him to upgrade not to stand still very worrying we haven’t really been linked with a rb and then rose isn’t going on tour either so both lb and rb positions are looking pretty weak it’s worrying

That’s Levy’s specialty!

In the few games I’ve seen of him, Correa is a bit like Lewis Holtby. Runs around a lot, seems to have a bit of skill but never actually accomplishes much. Probably Atlético trying to flog him, though Simeone does give him a lot of games.

Assuming for a moment it's not intended for KWP to step up and given that we're splashing some cash, what right backs could we realistically get that could be an improvement?

If Aurier is staying, I think he's obviously seen as the starter. Behind him is plenty of depth, KWP, Steven Sessegnon, Juan Foyth, and Eric Dier.

I think one of KWP or Aurier has to leave to be able to offer a player a spot. The most likely target being Youcef Atal, but he's been at AFCON and Nice are in the midst of a takeover, so it's likely he'd be a late addition.
