Have to agree with Gaffney about the HG, I know everybody is sick of the conversation but it is cause for concern considering the players we are linked to.

I suspect if clubs were in the market for Aurier at £20m+ he would have been the one leaving instead. I guess the Sessegnon bros would be HG, and KWP will too if he stays and competes for a place.

Aarons would be an ideal replacement if feasible.

Hope I'm wrong but i'm getting the feeling we are not going to replace Trippier. Really would not be surprised to see us go in with Aurier, KWP and with Foyth also an option there.

I’m pretty certain Foyth will be our first choice RB next season.

Not trippiers biggest fan and happy to sell him but will we buy a right back? Bit worrying to have foyth and kwp as starters next season

As a fervent Brexit supporter, today’s developments are deeply upsetting. PC gone mad.

Lol, everyone has been begging for KWP to get minutes and Aurier to get minutes all season, and to put Trips on the bench. Now we're getting rid and it's "I don't think the other guys are ready". Make up your mind.

I think Poch has had enough time to assess Trippier and if he thinks we should get shot then youve surely got to trust his judgement. Trippier cost us far too many goals last year and is he wasnt very good going forward either.

Bloody hope not
Having trouble finding a link to the interview but Foyth confirmed Poch asked him if he wanted to play RB last season and he said yes and thinks he could do well there. Foyth made it sound like that would be getting significant playing time there too going forward.

I think it's pretty obvious that Trippier does best with a back 3. He was OK for us in that setup and had a very good World Cup. Straight away in a back 4 this season he looked vulnerable and got targetted repeatedly. He'll be an asset in a team that plays to his strengths, but that's not us any more.

Maybe Alves has legs to it? Not sure Aaron’s is a quick fix solution and would hinder KWP’s progression too. Think we’d have to choose between one of them if that move occurred. Therefore a short term fix to see if KWP / Foyth has it in them while they gain great knowledge from Dani could work well for us all.

Well wanting someone to get more minutes and thinking they're not ready are not mutually exclusive - in fact they rather go hand in hand. Nevertheless, I suspect that there are two different groups here who just rate Trippier differently.

For me it just feels like a good deal for everyone involved, although I have no idea what Atletico have at RB, and I have doubts about Trippier settling. Seems like a reasonable return for us, and presumably they either think KWP has what it takes or have something else up their sleeve.

Feels like we kind of have to replace him with another homegrown... right? That's all Alasdair was banging on about last season. That would pretty much only leave Aarons available from what I know

You played Juan Foyth on the right against City, is that something we might see more of?
“Yes. I think yes. I think he was very good. He played so well. The signal that he's giving us in the training sessions, you can see and you can feel and you can trust him in that position.”

Could get that imo. He hasn’t had the greatest year but he was possibly England’s best player in the World Cup only last year. And he’s (obviously) English which raises the price usually anyway. The amount paid for fullbacks has risen dramatically over the last few years. £40M is still less than the likes of Walker 3 years ago and unproven AWB at Man U.

£20M would be an absolute steal under normal circumstances (I don’t know how many years he has left on his contract).

We should have sold him last summer. A big mistake not to.

Must have moved quickly this then as there’s been no news/itk on it until the last 24 hours.

KWP to step up then with Aurier unless he goes too and we get another one in.

ITK has been in complete lockdown since last week it seems. Most of the big hitters haven't even touched on Saliba. My guess is there are a load of spinning plates going right now.

Well, yeah, but it makes you wonder what he makes of Aurier and KWP considering Trippier has been his first choice RB for the past 2 years.
