We've got KWP coming through, though, so I think Trippier's time might be up soon enough.

I know a lot of you watch the youth closely and know your stuff, and I'd love to see KWP excel and be a great player for us ASAP but, come on, time and time again this gotta stop - how many minute has KWP played and you are talking about 'reserving' a future place for him in the expense of at a very least a good backup for us currently?

Besides, to extend Tripps for say 3 more years doesn't mean we need to keep him for 3 more years, we can easily sell him (and make a profit giving the bargain he was when we got him) if we need to make room when KWP/someone else is good enough to replace him. It just makes the most sense to extend him soon, as long as Poch's happy with him and he's ok with the role he's in.

At least wait til KWP (or whoever the 'next big thing' is) actually show something in some senior game time to hype him up, and be fair to Tripps (or the current vets they are supposedly replacing) .

Walker has six assists this season, and is generally dominating every opponent he comes across. It's not like Trippier is anywhere near him in terms of quality, even though he is a very handy player for us.

I might be wrong but I think Trips has more assists in all comps than walker. He definitely has a better assist per game ratio. I think the only gap between them is athleticism in which case Walker is clearly the better athlete. Personally I'd give Tripps more game time against lesser opposition.

Trippier's passing against Millwall was out of this world. A poster earlier said it right, Beckham-esque.

Walker is still better as an all around wingback but in possession there is no contest to be honest.

If you watch back the replay after that exqusiite pass for Sonny's goal, Walker's face looked dead serious when the bench was shown. Must've been worried about his place

Hopefully he was studying Trippier's crossing technique lol.

Love watching Trippier, he is brilliant going forward, one of the best crossers in the Prem. Be in most teams starting 11's but he can't play more because Walker is phenomenal- the pace, power, determination, in most games he literally owns the rights side of the pitch from one goal line to the other.

To be fair to Walker he's improved his end product this year and actually got some assists. I'd still give him some rest in the lesser games and try and use Trippier's delivery as more of an attacking threat. Very few of the lower league teams have good tricky wingers that can trouble him defensively and that makes his forward play all the better.

It's been said before but best crosser of the ball we have. Sign him up.

I know he's not played that many games for us but i honestly can't remember a better crosser of the ball in my life time(90s onward). Anybody?

Ziege and Davies as wingbacks were pretty good. We should try Trips on corners and some set pieces, though.

Absolutely deserves to start more games than he does. His vision and crossing ability is such an asset. Start him against the teams that sit back and don't allow us to utilise Walker's counter attacking talents.

Keeps Trippier happy and saves Walker from burn out too.

Christ if Walker could pic a pass and cross a ball like Trippier he'd be world class! Some of his crosses are a forwards wet dream! They know they can make the run and the ball will arrive in a dangerous area. Walker always seems to have to take another touch or check back rather than getting it in early. So frustrating as the man is a beast for running up and down that touch line. He's also cut out the stupid fouls he used to make in dangerous areas that had me screaming at the tv. If only he could improve his delivery.
Trippier deserves to start more games and shouldn't be allowed to leave. Hopefully the pressure on Walker will have him staying behind after training and practicing cross after cross after cross.

That's only premier league only.
Trippier has played cups and Europe and at times looked defensively suspect. Not bad, but not as mature as walker.

I do think he will continue to become better and better and I hope we keep hold of him, because we play rotation and need quality 2nd player on each wing.

I don't think anyone can honestly claim Trippier is a better defender than Walker.

And walker has more assists than any other PL defender this season.

The word study and Walker don't go together in any universe!

Apart from the fact that Walker has said he spent a lot of time working on his attacking game and is one of our most improved players vs 2-3 years ago

Walker is criminally underrated. Yes Trippier is excellent against cannon fodder lower table side and I rate him highly but would have Walker every day when up against top class oposition left sided attackers defensively
