Walker on the left then?
Not a bad shout, his crossing won't be any worse, and his pace is such that he could go round the outside and still cut in to use his right. Also his shots may benefit from playing that side and having to curl the ball rather than just hammer it.

How good his defending or link up play would be there is another matter...

After the contract extension of Davies, would love Trippier to get one as well, and continue as our back-up rb, cant think of a better back-up rb in the league

We've got KWP coming through, though, so I think Trippier's time might be up soon enough.

Yeah, that's probably right, but I'm not sure if it warrants a new contract.

Id say its a pretty safe bet for a new contract to be honest. He's a good backup, and will allow KWP to play without too much pressure if he gets the odd sub appearance etc. If we give him a new 3 year contract, even if we do want to sell him, there wont be a team in the bottom half who wouldn't want him

He'll be 27 this year though, and whereas Davies and Rose have been sharing their games 50/50 for the last three seasons, Trippier has gotten 9 league appearances in his time with us.
19 appearances total last season, and probably on course for less this season.

Maybe he gives it one more season with us before seeking more game time.

He's the best crosser of the ball in the team. Especially from deep positions, it's Beckham esque at times.

We should definitely try and keep hold of him if we can.

Sub with cup and euro performances or relegation scrap? He's far too good for the teams that would want him. If he keeps playing like today he will get more league games. The passes for Son to run into were sublime. Poch will reward him eventually and he knows that.

I'll be surprised if he's here next season. He could easily start for the majority of teams in the league but has only played in 32 games in all competitions for us since joining. Considering that Wanyama has played more than that and Janssen has only played two fewer, even though they both signed a year after Trippier, he must surely be getting frustrated at a lack of playing time.

That ball today for Son's second goal was outrageously good. Can you imagine the wankfest amongst their respective fan bases if Ozil or Coutinho had done that.

I'd love to see him get more playing time especially now that we're playing with wing backs, but Walker has had an excellent season and I expect he'll return to the starting lineup against Southampton next week. And whilst I think Davies recognises he can be backup at Spurs or he'll have to take a major step down to probably somebody in the bottom half if he wants to start every week, I think Trippier is being wasted on our bench.

If you watch back the replay after that exqusiite pass for Sonny's goal, Walker's face looked dead serious when the bench was shown. Must've been worried about his place

No need to sell Trippier. Keep him along as KWP isn't fully ready to deputize for Walker yet. IMO KWP will become a winger/AM for us, I really believe we'd be wasting his dribbling ability at the RB position.

Yeah that video of him in the youth squad makes him look like an attacker. But his speed and technique would seem to be a great fit for the WB positions

I noticed exactly the same thing. Everyone else was celebrating Walker looked like he'd accidentally spat his chewing gum in poch's hair and was thinking of an excuse lol.

Don't think he was worried about his place.

Great goal by Son. Especially after his appalling abuse from Millwall fans - clearly noted by Kyle Walker. @MirrorFootball

I can't quite make out what the Millwall fans are jeering towards Son from up in the north stand but Kyle Walker really isn't happy about it

Walker has the advantage of getting back to defend far more quickly that Trippier, and I expect he'll always be preferred in big games against top teams for that reason.

Walker has six assists this season, and is generally dominating every opponent he comes across. It's not like Trippier is anywhere near him in terms of quality, even though he is a very handy player for us.
