Good luck to Trippier. Great move for him really.

The masses will have to find a new scapegoat this season.

Di Marzio says we're looking to replace him with either Florenzi or Hysaj, Duncan Castles saying Dani Alves whilst others saying we won't replace him. Hard to know what we're actually going to do.

Not really, Herc has said we will use Aurier, Foyth and KWP, unless someone comes in for Aurier.

My guess is it will be Dier...or maybe Sissoko if he doesn’t immediately show the form he produced last season!

As brilliant as Sissoko has been in the last year, I have sometimes wondered if there could be a way to move him to right back/wing back. I think he would be absolutely immense! He has all the attributes to play there, apart from the positional sense to play the role. But Trippier barely had that either.

Wan Bissaka was a winger, and only played full back last year, and didn’t turn out too bad.

Loads of good defenders have been switched from more advanced roles (Rio/Terry/Rose etc). I guess the bigger issue is that Sissoko is a bit older now. But if he made the switch he could potentially be useful to us for another 4-5 years in that role.

I don’t think he has another 4-5 years with us playing centre mid.

Nice touch from Tripper with the letter. Had poor season last year. But think some of the abuse he got on here was over the top and unfair.

Gonna add my thanks to Trippier, he was and will always be a Spur.
Never disrespected the club and gave his all, an extremely brave move going abroad, more English players should try it.
Burnley, Tottenham, England, CL Final and now a major player in Spain, Ath. Madrid. What a career he is having.

Quite sad to see him go. Clearly a very decent bloke and I would still prefer him over Aurier. He was his own harshest critic last season, he didn't try to hide and must have been upset by the stuff aimed at him on social media. As we know, he was one of several underperforming players from the previous world cup team and I think he could re-discover his best form.
No doubt a better attacking rather than defensive full back but , at his best, a really good player. Good luck Trips and I hope he would get a great reception from the fans if we ever play AM.
By the way, what a great move for him.

Burnley -> Spurs -> Atletico Madrid. Nice journey for him to be on. Good luck in Spain! Third English and Spurs player to play in Spain I believe.

Good luck to the guy. He may not have had a good season but the level of stick he took was undeserved. Will be really interesting to see how he does in Spain.

Agreed, some of the stick he took was undeserved he wasn't the only one who had a poor season in fact the whole team was poor it made Sissoko look good.

Inconsistent season notwithstanding, to go from scoring a pearler in the World Cup semi-final, to playing in a Champions League final, to now playing in La Liga's third most successful team... That's one hell of a 12 months he's had. All power to him, I hope he win's something with them.

For a regular bellend, this is actually a lovely, thoughtful post

Hysaj can play both right and left back which would be a plus if Rose goes too

The masses will have to find a new scapegoat this season.

He wasn’t a scape goat, he was a player who consistently dipped below the standards expected, became a liability defensively, and was targeted by opponents. Good luck to him, he always tried, was great for 2 seasons, had a great WC and left the club in the best possible way (for a profit with good wishes). Not sure either Foyth or KWP will be better than he was season before last, but have a lot of faith in Poch the FB whisperer!

Real look shell shocked and only really came back into it after the cards. Tripps knitting well into the side. Its going to take Zidane more then a season to get this lot sorted.
