Not been the same player since the World Cup, but then on the other flank Davies has hardly been decent.

I dunno, feels like all of our full backs are struggling this season and I would guess that this is down to the constant changing from 3 at the back to a 4231.

I think we have to keep him for home grown reasons.
Sell Davies and Aurier - try to beat City to Chillwell.
Chillwell, Rose, KWP, Trippier

KWP & Tripps is not a good enough duo IMO. But it is probably the likely scenario.

you aren't wrong....would like to see Aurier, Davies and Tripps transitioned out for Chillwell and a RB.
BUT there is so much work to be done this summer, it seems hard to imagine Trippier leaving as well.
I posted this somewhere else but could see us down to 20 first team players and some youth - that is with the very plausible chance that Fernando, Vorm, GKN, Janssen and Aurier (as the only non HG of our 3 right backs) leave the club. Now imagine if Toby and Eriksen don't sign. That puts us at 18 first team players with Skipp next in line....a LOT of work to be done to be honest.

Hugo, Gazza,
Rose, Davies
Verts, Sanchez
Toby, Foyth
Trippier, KWP
Dier, Wanyama
Winks, Sissoko
Alli, Son
Eriksen, Lamela,
Kane, Moura
20 + youth like Skipp, Amos, Onomah,

Chillwell & Wan Bissaka would give us Walker and Rose reincarnated, but also probably cost 80 mil.

New element to the full back debate has been Rose's solid form recently. And Davies is an able back up in that case. For now, I wouldn't change anything there, particularly as we've got more important work to do elsewhere now.

Slight issue is with RB. I think KWP should stay and then we get rid of one of Trippier or Aurier. All things being equal Trippier would be the one to go for me but we'll have to see what happens with regards to bids for the pair. Certainly though there is no need for 3RBs going forward when it's clear money to spend is limited. One of them has to go.

Trying to picture the squad as is with Eriksen and Toby leaving, as well as the unwanted players.

Hugo, Gazzaniga
Rose, Davies, KWP, Trippier or Aurier
Dier, Foyth, Verts, Sanchez, Eyoma
Skipp, Sissoko, Winks, Amos
Alli, Son, Lamela, Moura
Kane

It's extremely thin on the ground, and that's with two players in the squad who've played no more than 5/10 PL minutes. Assuming we just promote a youth keeper we're realistically in need of 3 major signings at the absolute least, but ideally 4 or 5 first team players.

A Son-esque option, Eriksen replacement, 1 CM and a CB or 2CMs depending on whether Dier gets moved back.

Judging by how late we leave signings, i'd be willing to bet that'll be the squad heading into next season. Let's pray for no serious injuries.

it is really thin - have to imagine one right back leaves as well. That gives us 18 first teamers (including Wanyama with his fitness issues) and then we get to Skipp from an experience point of view....as you say, need 3 signings minimum. If we keep Eriksen and Toby we are at 20 with Skipp 21. Then I think we can get away with, say, 2 quality signings (Chilwell please!)

But he's the best right back in the history of football because he's just so fast, this doesn't make any sense.

Posters go into every thread and abuse a player at some stage, it's nothing unique to this thread (not saying it's right mind).

Plus a lot of posters in here are rightly questioning why he is playing when so off-form and haven't been abusive, I agree no need to be abusive about him as can make point without resorting to that.

And my post wasn't abusing him just to add. ;-)
100% this. Absolutely no hatred or malice towards Trippier, but he simply hasn't been good enough this season.

Interesting read, love the Spider-Man picture too ha ha!

Although Pep does deploy Walker in a slightly different way (supporting midfielders and moving inwards a bit more) so would be interesting to see how he would do for us nowadays or whether he has truly gonna downhill.

But we did get a good price for him and he did have his limitations so unless KWP comes good right back is still definitely an upgradable area.

He still can’t cross for shit though I see too lol - if only we could merge Trippier’s delivery onto Walkers pace and athletism...

Would love to know what Poch feels about our RB situation.

Must be one of the hardest positions to find genuine quality. They nearly all seem to have fatal flaws to their game. From playing football, RB/LB were always the positions nobody wanted to play.
