Rubbish he wasn’t poor at all. I could literally pull 10 tweets on messi in that game if I wanted to lol.

He was poor. He committed too many fouls. And he made mistakes taking the ball from the defense. He tried to dribble past an attacker, and lost the ball. He was lucky the attacker missed the chance.
In fact he was subbed off later. CBs are not usually subbed

I didn't watch after Lo Celso went off but looked like a fairly typical Foyth performance to me. Looked assured in possession, made some good passes and pulled off a few risky ones, had the odd excellent run then got a silly yellow card and clowned along the trademark "Foyth tightrope" where he seems to play even more aggressively on a yellow then off it - much like how he defends inside the box as if the idea of a penalty is an alien concept.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a huge talent, but it's like his brain doesn't understand the concept of risk or consequences. He needs to fix this quickly as it's something he does in almost every single game and at the top level there's no bigger game changer than giving away penalties or getting silly red cards. And yes, I know he's young and he will learn with experience, but I can't think of many other youngsters with such a specific weakness in this area.

To be playing for your country at that age is so promising, poch will iron him out. He’s got far too much potential not to.

I really hope you're right but nothing is certain in football and I think he has just as much chance of being a lynchpin of our team for years to come as being another Vlad Chiriches - an obviously talented footballer who can't be trusted in such an important position. Greater talents have floundered with lesser flaws.

I personally think we'd be better blooding him with some more games at RB in the league allowing games at CB against weak teams/cup games until he matures a bit more. Watching him play for Argentina gave me heart palpatations and I wasn't even supporting them.

I'd like to see him get some time at DM where ha has all of the attributes but isn't the last line of defence.

Me too, he had to most successful take-ons completed (19) of any CB in the PL last season, and he only played 900 minutes! The 2nd most was by Maguire (18) and he played 2600 minutes.
With his passing and dribbling he seems perfect for a DM role.

Foyth playing CDM when he has a habit of trying to take players on and inadvertently getting disposed?, nah sorry not convinced.

The irony is that that Dier sees himself as a DM and Foyth wants to be a CB when both seem better suited to the other role IMO.

Verts played left back Foyth played right back .
I still insist that there is a top player here and Forth will either be a right back or play on the right in midfield.

Like the boy's positive attitude
and like Sanchez has a mistake in him
but is young and in the right hands.

Trouble was after take-ons 18 & 19 he overran the ball and got a red card! :nailbiting:

I just don't see him as a RB at all, I didn't think he played particularly well when he played there, which is against popular opinion. He's a bit of a liability at the back, but not because he's a DM or RB in disguise. It's because he's still a kid who's only had a handful of appearances in arguably the best league in world football. All he needs is coaching, time and patience and he'll be golden. The same goes for Sanchez to an extent. Both are brave in possession and as a result get made to look silly on occasion but the mistakes will get less and both are perfectly suited to breaking the press and that's how Poch (and me actually) want to play from the back. "Just facking hoof it, stop passing it out" they scream...
