Come on, people, Pochettino isn't going to put a 19 year old Argentinean central defender with zero experience of the Premiership in central midfield. Be real. Stop playing online football games.

No, you stop playing online football games :p

(Completely agree with your point by the way)

I don't know whether he'd be a success in midfield or not, seems a pretty 'Neanderthal' way of thinking though... Like, he's good on the ball and dribbles with it so he shouldn't be playing centre back.

Is it ? Wanyama and dier are possibly 2 of the best in business at breaking stuff down. But their use of the ball leaves a lot to be desired.Finding a DM who can carry the ball forward and make incisive passes would massively improve us.In theory Foyth has all the raw ingredients to do this.Of course the reality is another mater. But I'm sure we will see him there this season.

Why couldn't he just do that from centre back? One school of thought in football is that you actually want your best ball-players at the back because they are first on the ball in the build up and have a whole defensive structure to try and play through. If your centre back can break through the lines and bring the ball out then it should have made life easier for the rest of the team who receives the ball subsequently.

Look I'm not saying he couldn't do a job in midfield perfectly well if tasked, just since he's signed I've seen a lot of 'lets put him in midfield' comments in various places - comes across as slightly lazy and 'stereotypical'.

Exactly. Foyth seems to be of the same type of player as Vertonghen, and Toby - which is what Poch wants right now - CBs who can bring the ball out of the back, and play as Deep Midfielders when we are attacking.

All of his touches in the game vs Barnsley

I've said this elsewhere but Sanchez seems so much like the player Poch loves while Foyth seems like the player Poch's System loves.

This boy looks so classy. The Beckenbauer comparisons are obvious to see.He seems almost wasted as a conventional CB.The left or right of the 3 Or DM look perfect for him.Cant wait to see more tonight.

In our system, the ability of the wide CBs on the ball is more important than that of the DM. So lazy to suggest ‘he’s good on the ball, let’s just move him forward.’ It doesn’t work like that.

Looking forward to seeing him tonight

Since we're playing 3 at the back these days, we really need 5 (or possibly 6) good CBs in the squad so hopefully he'll develop into one of them

Some of his passing was unreal, his long balls had perfect pace and length. Has a lot to learn stil but at his age there is a lot to be excited at.

He knows what English football is all about now though. Good to learn that early, he'll be a hell of a player one day.
