I reckon he could do a decent job at RB. I was at the West Ham game and thought he was the one bright spark in an otherwise horrible performance but I know a lot of people thought the opposite. He's reasonably quick, reads the game well and about 90% of the time he's a very good 1v1 defender (the other 10% he's dog shit, which is the concern) and definitely better than Trippier in that area. He also provides a genuine threat going forward as he's got a real knack for taking players on.

He'll probably be a bit suspect positionally and will definitely do some dumb shit, but overall I think he'd be a solid option there and would cost us less goals than he would at CB (I'd be willing to bet he'd give away about 5 pens and get sent off at least twice if he was our first choice CB next season.)

Agreed. He would constantly be in the wrong position because of him bombing forward.

No he'll just try and take players on and I'm not convinced about his patience to play that role or his ball retention/recycling skills.

How many CB's successfully adapt to CDM's? We have moved on from the days of CDM's just being pure protectors who act as a screen, these days we want them to be able to play as well and set the tempo of the attack right?

We always hear about these calls for CB's to be converted but they rarely work, if anything it's the other way round, good CDM's make good defenders because they read thr game well and have the patience to play there.

He is young and will likely improve, but i'm not sold on him as an EPL right back yet. We need a stronger offering on the right side of the defense, at least as strong as Danny in his prime. Foyth is either a half a step slow or underestimates his opponents speed/quickness. Note the number of semi-desperate tackles and the penalties he gave away.

If the mental side of his game improves and his quickness steps up a notch, he has the opportunity to be imperious especially as a central defender. At the risk of heresy, his dribbling skills in the semi-open field is reminiscent of Franz B and his distribution isn't too bad either. On the upside, given his age and technique, he is one to hold onto and see how well he develops.

I informed internally, and cannot recall if I done so on the forum. We will be trying out new formations in pre-season, and seeking RB’s from within (outside of Tripps/Aurier). I did not mention Foyth’s name. He is seen as better playing RB, and has all the qualities to be a major success there. Another reason (probably) KWP is now ‘possibly’ available for a good price transfer.

I don't like the idea of Foyth at RB. Centre backs very rarely look comfortable there. He's not slow but he's just not explosive enough and in his albeit limited appearances there so far hasn't shown he can whip a quality cross in and beat a man. His defending seemed good though so as a defensive option he could be somewhat useful.

If you ask me, his perfect position would be a right sided centre back in a 3. Don't think he should be anything else but injury cover at RB.
