Imagine if he was at Ajax plying his trade now. We would not be at the races for the price it would take to sign him. #Perspective

I think there will be a transition period, but he's improving every game. He pocketed Zaha against Palace, when we were massively exposed defensively in the second half. He was also exceptional last night, one early mistake aside.
That early mistake could easily have led to a goal, and unfortunately he makes at least 1 of these a game.

I'd expect a top PL CB to make one of these 1 in every 10/15 games, maybe even less than that. Don't get me wrong, he has fantastic potential and I believe he will be an excellent player, but we are a top tier team in a top tier league playing in top tier competitions and you just cant do that and expect to progress.

He's on such a similar trajectory to Stones. I think the reality is that he oozes class and has all the attributes to be a top CB but he doesn't read danger well yet, This isn't surprising after hearing that he played as an AM until the age of 16. A lot won't be able to stomach this but in my opinion he's going to need a season as first choice which will likely be very rocky with mistakes but he needs a season where he's playing 30-40 games and he learn to read the danger and know when to take risks. There will be a lot of people on his back during that season but if we ride it out we could have an absolute gem on our hands.

He needs to play more games to get that out of his system IMO, he'll learn when to know to turn back towards goal or put his foot on the ball, just needs more play time.

He’s going to be some player. Congratulations on who found him.

He is so confident on the ball and has a lot of attributes to be a really good player. Poch’s words post match are really interesting. He knows how good he is, it’s just about giving him opportunity now.

Few old boys in the crowd around me weren’t happy with him but I guess you get fans that are pretty much clueless once they’ve made their mind up on a player. Too ignorant to change it.

Probably the sort of fans who'd be happy to see him hoof it into row Z every time but would then complain that we can't get hold of the ball. Poch clearly likes all of our defenders to be comfortable with the ball at their feet, and that confidence comes from practicing that very skill as much as possible in competitive situations. I don't expect Foyth to change his approach and even moreso, I don't think Poch will be asking him to.

Could well become our best player when he has fully developed.
That’s a bit extreme. Statements like that have been said about Townsend, Carroll, Bentaleb, to name a few. He is good, don’t get me wrong. But hyperbolic future statements do tend to come back and haunt you.

Two points:
1) Great prospect But Sanchez is surely ahead to replace Toby.
2) I think he needs to play DM until he's ready. Would rather see that with Davies as back up For Verts

So be it. He is clearly a talented footballer unlike most top central defenders who whilst good at defending have in truth limited ability with the ball.

I think he has progressed although i do worry about the level of natural defensive mindedness he has. Sometimes when he plays it clearly shows that he used to play further up the field and thats both good and bad. He can dive in recklessly at times like he is a forward player making a silly tackle. He did well yesterday despite the 3/4 moments which could have cost us. Sanchez is a step or two above defensively for sure.

Sanchez has had a vast amount more senior playing time though. Foyth makes mistakes, but I haven't seen anything yet that a little experience, coaching, and confidence couldn't probably fix.

Still a mere puppy given his age and game time thus far in his career.

Certainly has shown enough to suggest that he's going to have a very bright future ahead.

Of course there's been a few mistakes, but almost to be expected given age, but don't see anything that can't be rectified with Poch's guidance.

The way he reads the game and glides out Rolls Roycesque with the ball, well that's something that can't always be taught and executed.

Absolutely chuffed he chose us as opposed to PSG.

I was trying to find the thread to say the same thing

He loves a penalty this guy.

Like seriously whats up with that... its not age...

He doesnt read danger well yet because he still playing AM at 16, so for me he doesnt read danger well and then over compensates to put the problem right and commits the fouls.

I see that and get that particularly as he takes risks with and even without the ball. I just think its a pretty dangerous habit given that players and teams could target him (even moreso if he plays with Tripper on his right)

Yeah ive said before its extremely similar to Stones, he used to have to tell Everton fans to chillout as they were getting angry at him and it continued into his first season at City. We will have to suffer short term if we want him to become a world class cb.
