Sounds like it was Martinez that’s gave the “very very bad” quote. A claim that Poch has expressed his displeasure at and played down the comment some what. Here’s hoping it’s not as bad as what Martinez made out.

Confirmed out till December.

:(

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen is expected to be out until December with a hamstring injury.

The Belgium international suffered the problem during the 2-0 Premier League win at Huddersfield on 29 September.

Vertonghen, 31, has made eight appearances for Spurs this season, and scored against Newcastle on the opening day of the league campaign.

The club said in a statement that he had made a "good initial response to rehabilitation".

It added: "The Belgium defender will now continue his recovery with a view to returning to full training by December."

I harped all summer about how it would be worrying if we replaced Toby with De Ligt and had 19 & 22 year old CBs all season, unfortunately that prediction would have been true.

Vertonghen said in an interview in August that the club have an option to extend. His contract expires in June 2020.
Don't come in here and be all factual and sensible when all we crave is something to panic about.

Let's get this back on topic. He won't be back by Christmas, maybe Easter by some miracle, and he'll have signed for Chelsea in January.

Unfortunate it happened in a collision so he thought it was a dead leg & played on.
Players usually know when it is muscular.

A huge problem with him being out for months is that it could potentially take him a very long time to get fully back up to match speed
There is no coincidence in the fact that Jan has been consistently brilliant for us in the same period as having zero injuries
Previously to that he’d had a few stop start periods broken up with a few niggles, missing games and hence making mistakes around that time
Unquestionably our best and most consistent defender prior to this terrible setback
Worth noting that when Toby had had a very long injury free period he was also brilliant and virtually error free and at that time was by far our best defender

Is he yet another player over played by Poch because of lack of other options?

You only have to look at the players out (apart from Rose) to see that they are some of the players who have played the most minutes for us over the last 3 seasons. Their bodies just can’t cope and now we are seeing the repercussions.

I wouldn't say overplayed, the amount of minutes he's racked up over the years is just standard fare especially for a CB.
