Will be interesting to see what France do. Even though their World Cup winning captain. National criticism can be overwhelming and the other guy they have forget his name but looks decent. I think if he loses his place in French team that will be beginning of end and almost give Pochettino some justification.

His overall form for us over the last year or so has been really poor overall, being a sweeper keeper is a young keepers game, Hugo is 32 this year, not writing him off yet, but it could be a factor.

Poch and him are tight, he's not gonna get dropped as long as he is still manager at Spurs, think some of you ought to get used to that.

Think he's had his day.

His last decent performance for us was R Madrid at home.

Agree that he's tight with Poch, though. Unlikely to be moved on.

It's a bit of an achilles heel with Poch - he can be very loyal to players who aren't performing IMO

Reading the poch book he and hugo have a strange relationship which in the past has blown hot and cold so I wouldn't say that Poch would have to leave for hugo to leave, if he feels theres a better option he will take it I reckon.

The problem is that after Allison and Kepa, the price for top line promising keepers is sky high, so it will be very expensive to try and replace him.

That's where scouting needs to come in, can't tell me there isn't promising keepers out there for below 30.

If Liverpool and Chelsea are paying £70m for a top keeper then the chances are that we'd have to pay the same, I mean the plan is to improve isn't it?

Just need to support and try to improve the top keeper we have.

It’s hard after last night to be objective but the reality is Hugo is better than he showed.

A mistake like fumbling a cross or letting a shot slip through your fingers can be forgiven, because they are freak incidents that if the keeper faced the same situation another 100 times you'd expect him to deal with all of them. It happens to everyone from time to time. However, errors of judgement like charging out of goal when the opposition is clearly going far out wide, defenders are going to get back and you are clearly going to be beaten to the ball, are unforgivable. It's easy to say with hindsight that we should have stuck with Gazzaniga yesterday but I bet he would have been furious watching that.

If you're under the age of about 35 then Hugo is easily the best keeper you've seen in a Spurs shirt, and I've always laughed at ideas that we could do better. Yesterday night however was the first time since he's been here that I've thought that perhaps we should be considering our options. His form since the Madrid games last season has been very poor and far too many basic errors are creeping into his game. I used to absolutely love and him but I lost a huge amount of respect for him on a personal level with the drink driving incident, something I have absolutely no time for, and whilst acknowledging his loyalty for sticking by us through Sherwood etc, it's starting to feel like this may be the beginning of the end.

That being said, investment priorities are clearly at full-back and central midfield before goalkeeper at the moment, unless things get worse and we see a situation like we had with Robinson.

I just don't think we are in that position where we can sign a top10-15 Goalkeeper in the world now unless a miracle happened and we would have to instead sign a keeper who seems to have vast potential and work with him, Poch himself said we have the best goalkeeping coach in the world so if that is anywhere close to true then he would hopefully be able to make good on that potential. I mean I'd say the best thing for us would be to that LLoris stays one more year as we sign a promising keeper and he learns from Hugo.

I'm sure they are out there, but they'll be riskier prospects, not sure things.

Yep, considering the prices floating about for keepers I feel this is our only option. Unless we suddenly decided to pay oblaks release fee which just isn't happening.

Hugo has not been at his best in recent times but I think there are more areas in other parts of the pitch that we need to prioritise over the gk position.

The club / Levy will probably only allow a limited amount of funds for incomings in the next couple of TWs.

We have Paolo as backup and should, if the occasion permits, slowly blood him into the side so that he can gradually gain the experience to, one day, replace Hugo.

Think that's why we have signed Gazzaniga

Lloris is better than both. Far better.

Jesus christ this thread is a fucking joke. Smfh.
Lloris is definitely better than Kepa. But Allison I'm not so sure. Yes Allison does give the ball away and with that goals far too often, but Hugo's errors are just as frequent these days. And he has an upside of being very, very good under pressure and having fantastic distribution. I wouldn't say there's much between them right now but he's considerably younger.

I didn't say he wasn't. I was merely quoting the price of young keepers.

Lloris' performance levels have been on a downward trajectory for a while though. Anyone who can't see it is deluding themselves.
